Play them of course. Sometimes I treat them like an antique car and use special care.
If I had a JS Donnie? That 's a different situation.

WITHOUT a doubt, hands down, no questions asked!!!
And don't even be thinkin that it has anything to do with the fact that I cannot play a guitar without a vine

Re: Do you play your collectables??
I buy guitars in order to play them simply
. One of the reasons why I sold my RG1077XL lefty was because I didn't play it anymore.
Regards
André

Re: Do you play your collectables??
I figure it this way....... if you're going to buy a guitar, any guitar, whether it's a old one, signature model, or a limited edition, what good is it collecting dust? Some will say investment, but that's kinda lame because investments are something you trade or sell to make a profit.
I'd believe family heirloom or sentimental value long before this "investment" line some offer up. As far as all of my guitars, I play them all and have used everyone to gig with at some point. Now don't get me wrong..... I do take good care of them, but I don't "baby" them. I do keep them in good working order. But I won't loose sleep if something gets damaged or stolen.
Guitars are made as a tool to express yourself with...... not something to fall in "love" with and treat like a fragile baby or like it means or has more value than a human.
Besides, I can't take them with me when I die so I'll put them to good use now. Not let them sit in my house to collect dust or for me to be the only one to enjoy. Besides, when I die...... they will be handed down to my son & nephews or sold off at some point by relatives.
Anyway, I say buy it to play it. For me it's about music, not a particular guitar. I'll quite music the day I let a instrument dictate when or how I will play. Because anything like that..... and your nothing more than a guitar owner, not a musician.
