Re: Do you use reverb?

I use it when I need it. There is no option for that. When it sounds good to use reverb I will, yup small rooms need some usually. But sometimes it's sounds good in a big room too. And so on. Every situation is different.

actually that makes me wonder: how many people leave their amp at the same settings in every location they play in? I've never thought about it, but I always tweak something for the room.

I use a touch most of the time it just helps to give a touch depth and variation to your tone, too much sounds pants though!

Re: Do you use reverb?

I'm a sucker for reverb, and delays for that matter. Can you imagine Jeff Beck's 'Where Were You' or 'Two Rivers' without reverb? it would suck. I love big soundscapes, and approach the whole "wet" deal as an art form in it's own right. However, if cranking out some good ol' accadacca etc, then reverb is off.

Eric Johnson, Lukather, Devin Townsend... among my faves, and major reverbites.

My mk1 Intellifex has satisfied me on every level for reverbs and delays, and I use a Boss RV-3 through my 5150, and it just sounds massive... intro to Seventh Seal stylee! love it.

As with everything... like chocolate and ice cream, when in a pro setting, moderation is the key, but for recording, it gets soaked.

Re: Do you use reverb?

I like a little reverb, not talking surf reverb just a little bit...
For solos I just add a little bit of delay...

Re: Do you use reverb?

For cleans, yes, otherwise, never. I play with high gain and I like that in your face feel.

Re: Do you use reverb?

Clean rhythm guitars = delay OR reverb
Heavy rhythm guitars = dry
Lead = only delay
Bass = dry
Drums = depends on the beat of the song but generally reverb about 1.6
Keyboards = delay OR reverb
Vocals = delay and for a weird effect delay + reverb

Re: Do you use reverb?

It depends on the style I play and the situation..for bluesy stuff, I add a little to get a more vintage sound, but for my main style, metal along the lines Pantera, I use none..you need it off when getting those precise chops..I also tend to add a little delay...just enough for a little something after the note, repeating once very soft...
