Re: Faded SG
I had one. For the price it was great but I sold it eventually and got a 61 RI, much better guitar. The 61 RI has my favorite neck and pickups that Gibson offers. For the price, they are tough to beat, but I'd play one first just to make sure you like the neck.

Re: Faded SG
Haha, I remember you talking about having one before. I can't afford a Reissue, they look nice but I can't justify more than about 900 dollars on guitars. Thanks for the advise Cid, I know you have a couple Gibbys

Re: Faded SG
Had a couple..
that's cool if you don't want to spend the extra money, just throwing it out there. I actually sold my custom shop R7 to get a 61 RI SG. Well to get the SG and get some extra cash for bills but I ended up liking the neck on the SG better, I still prefer the body of a LP though. It's too bad Gibson priced the 61 RI so high. They don't seem to hold their value that well but now that the average selling price is so high the used ones I've seen lately are ridiculous. The last used one i saw was being sold for more than I paid for my new one earlier that year.

Re: Faded SG
Are you looking at the 2 pickup or 3 pickup version?

Re: Faded SG
The 2 pickup one. I played it at GC today. God do I hate GC. Anyway I like it alot, fret access is great. I have an Epi les paul and its a quality instrument. But I modded it alot. Just put on a new pickguard, knobs, pickups, wiring, Gibson tuners too. Check it out

Re: Faded SG
I was looking at faded SGs after posting here to see what they are going for. Sweetwater was quite a bit cheaper than MF.
I like what you did with the pickups

Re: Faded SG
Thanks, I would probably get one used, 3bay, or somewhere else. I don't buy new guitars. Z z o u n d s has em for 830, but there going for around 7 on 3bay. I need to sell a couple of my guitars to afford one tho...

Re: Faded SG
After playing the Les Paul does the SG feel kind of thin to hold? That's always been my problem with them. They look bad @ss...They just feel real thin and I can't get used to it. Too bad for me especially when a lot of the guys I looked up to when I was younger played one...Tony Iommi, Angus Young, Glen Buxton, Michael Bruce... I always wanted to get that vibe from an SG and never quite got the comfort from it...

Re: Faded SG
It is thin, lookin at it from the top is cool because the neck is as big as the body.

For the most part I hate the way they look, but I love the sound. The only SG that really chubs me up is the white SG/LP Custom. One day I will have Gibson Custom make me a 2 pick up one. Like the Elliot Easton Signature but with the 61 RI neck.

Re: Faded SG
The white custom is awesome. I love the headstock. Anyway I think I might get the sg special with the heritage cherry finish.

Re: Faded SG
You could do that, but the faded is the same guitar as the standard except for the inlays and finish. If the visuals are worth the extra money then go for it, but aside from that there is no difference between the two.

Re: Faded SG
I figured if im gonna save to get one I might as well save up one more paycheck and get the better aesthetics.
