Re: Fastest Player.
Naming 3 great songs of anyone is purely subjective and just opinion.
For me; I'll see the light tonight,Caught in the middle,Far beyond the sun!
If you like rock guitar and those songs don't get ya going, then you're dead or deaf!
Now where's my house
Don't know any of those BB King songs though.I thought the BB stood for Boring B*st*rd

Re: Fastest Player.
Im sory but yngwie will not be remembered by the masses as a true innovator. Maybe for shredders and guitar anylysts but BB king is a living legend. yngwies a crap songwriter-ill see the light tonight, far beyond the su......80s tosh, its dated sooooo much. Every guitar great respects BB so calling him boring bastard is a ignorant and daft. The great BB lives on..
BBs the great guitarist and great musician
yngwies a man running up and down a few scales slightly faster than your average guitarists--no emotion. Just a load of crappy 80s backing
Long live the king

Dude, leave. Please. This is merely a thread about who the fastest player is. That's it. It's not a place for somebody to bitch about shred having no emotion.
On that topic, no music "has" emotion. Music is just a collection of sound waves, and unless I'm mistaken, sound waves don't "have" emotion. They may act as an emotional trigger, I'll give you that much, but emotion in music is neither quantifiable or existant. The emotion is in you.
I find BB King to boring a boring pentatonic ****er. Nothing he has written has grabbed me in the same way that Yngwie's "Icarus' Dream Suite" or "Black Star" has. Does that mean I'm an ignorant or daft person? No, it means you can go to hell, thats what it means.
Being a great musician doesn't make you a good guitarist, being a good guitarist doesn't make you a good musician. Whatever about how good a musician he may be, he is a mediocre player at best. If you're going to dispute that, you are an idiot.
And just how much innovation did BB birng to music? Sweet damn all really, every other blues guy of his day was doing the same thing. Yngwie singlehandedly popularised a whole genre, that while not mainstream is certainly still going strong.
By the way, Yngwie has lost ALOT of weight. And I can certainly tell his playing apart from Batio's. I'd say that anybody who can't is both tonally and musically deaf really.
I don't even really like Yngwie bar a handful of songs, but idiocy pisses me off. Please, if you are going to argue, then learn to argue, currently, you're just spouting unintelligible nonsense.

.
I was going to say that, you beat me to it
As for talking about Yngwie playing scales, seems not everybody has heard of the pentatonic and blues scales
BB King did nothing original, does nothing original.Bluesmen are two-a-penny!!
Some may be better than others. But on thread topic,BB King ain't particularly speedy on the ol' guitar!!

Michael Angelo sweeps a few arpeggios in No Boundaries (2:01-2:05) using septuplets at 200, which is 23.3 nps

Yngwie on "Blitzkrieg" hits 18.6 nps alt picked.

Haha, Tom that list is cool. And quite mind boggling. Thanks for posting man!

I did say you could go to hell, not that you should. I never said you were an idiot. I said you were acting idiotically, and that if you think that BB King is a fantastic guitarist in a technical sense you ARE an idiot. Notice that conditional tense right there.
Weakness in my character? Nah. Intolerance for stupid remarks, and pointless arguement. A general love of order, logic and common sense. I did not start this row, YOU DID. Why even discuss how much better slow blues playing is than shred in a thread that only asks who the fastest player is? To me, that's like going into a Ford dealership and arguing to the sales assistant that Toyota's are better. Reread your posts, you are arguing, and without intelligence or method.
You don't want to hear my discussions about technical
guitar playing
on a site where most of the members are technical
guitar players
? Then join a blues guitar forum.
I'll stop being on the offensive when you keep your stupid comments such as "Yngwie's a crap songwriter" to yourself, or at least make them in the right threads. To any Yngwie fan, and there are a few on this board, that is directly offensive. For me, that kind of vulgar display of ignorance is also offensive. So please, don't preach.

Re: Fastest Player.
What the hell do you mean preach i was just displaying my point of view(notice the past tense) and wait a minute Tom did I hear you say the word 'intolerance' for 'arguments' and 'stupid remarks'. I thought you said you had a' A general love of order, logic and common sense'.How does that work? DONT YOU UNDERSTAND IT WASNT AN ARGUMENT. Also Tom, this is a calm civil forum, where people like yourself and me(maybe not you but others) dicuss in an appropriate manner, what we believe in subjects like 'The fastest player'. I merely placed my point of view and you basically told me to bugger off.( its a bit like walking into a
guitar shop
with a guitar on and being told to get lost-ha ha) Ok yes i said that 'yngwies a crap songwriter', and im sorry if that deeply affected anyone mentally, but please Tom forums are for dicussing subjects like this, but if I started this oum anywhere else you'd be telling me to p*ss off. Yeah i appreciate elements of shred, but not as much as blues, and as a matter of fact I am a member of a blues forum as well.

Re: Fastest Player.
What response would we get if we jumped on this blues forum saying "blues players suck,Yngwie kicks *ss" ?
Does anybody seriously think BB King is one of the fastest guitarists around??

Reread your posts, they're arguements, very poorly structured and idiotic arguments.
I never said I've an intolerance for arguments. I love intelligent arguments. You starting arguing pointlessly, I confronted you on it. I confronted you because there is damn all relevance even mentioning if you think blues is best in a thread about who the fastest player is. It doesn't matter if you think speed doesn't make for good guitar playing, it doesn't matter if you think it does. All it is is a thread to discuss who the fastest player is. Discussing this in an appropriate manner is NOT bitching about how much better blues is than shred. An appropriate manner is NOT saying you think Yngwie is a crap songwriter. An appropriate manner would be sticking to the damn topic. I do not see how this forum was designed for your idiotic comments, and this thread certainly WAS not, it was merely designed because one guy was curious about who the fastest player was. That certainly isn't BB King, so why even mention him?

Re: Fastest Player.
I change my opinion.
Steve Vai
is the fastest guitarist ever, hitting 666nps when he played the Devil's guitarst in Crossroads. End of discussion.
