You wont be disapointed! There's plenty of Loudness footage on youtube

Good example of Loudness: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jf_68fvrnp4

...and just for fun, my version of the same track http://www.zshare.net/audio/25603667a8c559/

Thanks for posting the links, awesome video! The solo does sounds a lot like PG took something from it, and it definitely has the Eddy influence!

No probs mate! Here's a vid from 1986, Paul jamming that very same track. It's around 04:10 on the vid.

Any opinions on my version?

My firefox is broken for WMV vids, and can't get it to run, and my internet explorer doesn't work. Let me download opera, just a sec...

Got it working! Dude, you are awesome! I actually like yours better than the versions that Paul and Arika played! I really like the song, I think I might learn it and play it live with my band for one of our later gigs in a month or two...Thanks for sharing all of that!

Re: Favorite EVH Rip Off

Sorry JVal4, but I gotta disagree.

"NONE of the players are as accomplished as ED"

Are you really saying that Eddie Van Halen is more accomplished as a guitarist than Steve Vai?

As a guitarist (and all round musician), I think Steve Vai completely and utterly blows him out of the water.

In fact, describing Vai as an EVH rip off seems like describing Micheal Jordan as a Larry Bird rip off. Yeah, Larry Bird was really really good, but he's no Jordan.

Just my two cents.

Rock on!

Re: Favorite EVH Rip Off

HeavyMetal4Ever, I think you took my post a bit out of context. In the overall scope of music, Ed is much more accomplished. Ask the average person who EVH is and who Steve Vai is and the reply will be Steve who?

I understand Vai is an instrumentalist and will likely never get the radio play that Ed got with VH. Granted, most radio is crap anyway, at least where I've lived.

My point is that technical prowess and amazing fretboard speed don't make you an accomplished musician. No matter how good. Vai is cetainly much more than that, but the average listener is bored by it after a few minutes. I'm sure you and I both could sit for days watching these guys play; but I'm talking on more of a global scale. ie- most music fans.

Heck, I never even said Ed was actually a better guitarist than Vai- he's certainly not as technical. But so what. Being a great musician/ composer is much more than technical ability. I watch these guys all day on youtube playing anything note for note and you'll NEVER hear of them. Why? Because they can't write or compose.

I'm a huge Vai fan, but prefer Satch and E Johnson in terms of composition and style. It has nothing to do with technical ability though. They're all frightening with a guitar.

BTW, are you saying Jordan was better than Bird??!! Blasphemy!!!! (LOL)

Rock on dude.....good discussion.

JVal
