Re: Favorite musical era/decade

I said other because I can't pick one. I like a lot of stuff from every decade listed.
You can't beat gritty country or jazz from the 50's, I love British Invasion and American Pop from the sixties, the seventies had badass arena rock and funk and soul music as well as the birth of punk, the eighties had thrash, doom, and death metal as well as awesome death rock and the beginnings of alt rock, the nineties had pretty much everything that came before. As far as music goes as this decade winds down, there has been a lot of good music from garage rock revival thanks to the White Stripes and other pretty good alt rock as well as some serious metal. I love all the decades and I could never ever pick just one.

Re: Favorite musical era/decade

I think this last decade has been a complete sham for rock music. Emos, Nickelback, and The Jones Brothers on the cover of Rolling Stone?!

I pray for Steel Panther to save us from these wicked demons, and restore the lost glory to the world of rock. Hey, that could be an RPG!

Anyways going back to a documentary I saw the other day. It was Mick Jagger who said when asked if the RS had progressed through the years. He answered that they changed but that he never believed they progressed. "Progress doesn't exists". This Cinderalla stuff is just being Theatrical which was already done by Alice Cooper in the 70's which was already done by Scaramouche in the Romantic era.
I think the more subtle things are the ones the progress but the things the Mainstream, regular people notice are always the same. At best is a rediscovery of something.

Think how I felt when that thing dropped in my mail box...

I believe there was actually an "online protest" about that issue actually. One of the complaints was the "God! Girls! Guitars!" caption. Words cannot describe how utterly aweful it is.

I never was a Disney fan, I never even liked them that much. Always preferred Looney Tunes. But now I plainly hate them, I'm done with Pixar movies.

Now that I think about it. I know what we can do with that issue. We can collect every single copy of the issue there is and send it to Cuba. They will use them as Toilet Paper along with the Official Diary there "Gramma" , "Juventud Rebelde" and the books from Karl Marx.

Late 70's, early 80's for me.It was cool to go in a record store and find yes, jethro tull uriah heep, led zep and black sabbath all in the same area of the store. It was just known as rock music.Yet there was a huge diversity for the listener. Then you had van halen, judas priest etc.I will admit the 80's made me relearn guitar completely but jimmy page licks still rock.

A corporate "music" product created by disney to sell "music" to girls aged 7-11 using sex. Hence the "purity rings", which only exist to save guard disney.

lol, did you watch the south park episode that was about the Jonas Brothers?
Hilarious stuff

And Britney Spears and 50 Cent managed to get onto the rolling stone cover, so the subscribers had what was coming to them.

And as for which musical era I like most, I didn't vote, because as stated every decade has it's good bands.

Though if I did vote I'd probably put in 00's because there's tons apon tons of good bands that are pretty recent in the 00's/ late 90s range, especially in the metal genre, like Necrophagist, Obscura, Children of Bodom, Dragonforce (yeah yeah whatever) Neuraxis, Black Dahlia Murder, Dethklok, Dream Evil, Gojira etc (I could double the list if I wanted). There's also some classics that came out early 90s like Pantera, Death, and Cannibal corpse. And of course there's all the 80s thrash and stuff.

There always was crap bands, you just need to delve slightly farther down than MTV to find the good ones.

Actually, I think I will vote for 00, lol.

Re: Favorite musical era/decade

both the 70s and 80s kicked ass. The 70s had Rainbow Rising which is my all time favorite album. But for the sake of the poll I'll give it to the 80s for Maiden, Operation Mindcrime, all the Fates Warning albums, Judas Priest, Helloween Keeper of the Seven Keys Pt.1 and Pt.2, Racer X, etc.

Would Mickey mouse rule the world?

They should do a reissue where Kartman wipes his butt with this magazine.
