Well since there is some Strat bashing and some Strat praising going on I thought I'd start a poll.

Presently, I say strats are best. For me it's the fact that you can pick up a $300-400 MIM Strat, and it will play and feel incredible, and sound amazing, and be solid built, and hold it's tuning, and look great, etc. Theres so much love there!!! Fender serves the working musician, and does not fail.

I don't quite know how to put my feelings into words on this one...

They have a great lineage and history, with some great instruments down the years, but to me it's like comparing a SNES to an Xbox (Strat to a Jem/RG), yeah there is unquestionable greatness but it's been trumped by the newer technology. I know that Lo-pros, Edge Pros, etc. aren't exactly a new concept, but they're something that makes the Strat's setup feel "Vintage" (for lack of a better term) So they aren't the kind of instrument that I want to shred the sh*t out of, although I'd like to play some nice soulful music on them, but most of the stuff I play IS shred so therefore the Jem/RG suits my needs better which is why I don't have a Strat anymore.

So, they're awesome for what they are, vintage, innovative, instruments and if it weren't for them, would any of you be playing Jems?

I voted #2 that they are great but not the best. I don't think there is such a thing as "the best guitar”. I think people can find something that is the best guitar for them but not necessarily the “best guitar” to someone else. That said I own 2 Strats and I do think they are great!!

To me it's not a comparison. Strats are great for a lot of players, but not me. It's my opinion that RG-style guitars kind of pick up where Strats leave off. There's a reason they're called superstrats. It's a progression, if you will.

Well I expect #2 to be the most logical option if you love strats considering there are awsome custom guitars, plus Shur, plus, G&L. #1 is for hardcore Strat lovers only.

I went with #2, Strats are great but I doubt there is one GREATEST guitar.
Although if I could only have 1 guitar for ever, it just may be a strat, I don;t know, I'm confused.
