greg howe

it seems not many people that enjoy guitar instrumentals (vai, satch, etc.) are really aware of greg howe. but, maybe i'm wrong. so tell me if you've heard him and what you think. if you haven't heard him play, check out some samples on his site greghowe.com

Re: greg howe

Wow, 2 votes! Actually Greg has been mentioned in the Players and Personalities section a few times. If anyone here is a fan, they need Extraction, his latest with Victor Wooten on bass and Dennis Chambers on drums. If you go to www.greghowe.com, it will be playing in the background. It's more of a step toward jazz/fusion than his Varney days, but still has plenty of guitar work, in fact some jazz reviewers have said he overplays, but whatcha gonna do, he's a guitar playa

Re: greg howe

Awesome player!!
I first heard (of) him via a Guitar Player Soundpage.
(In the early 90´s.)
Then I went to the local record store and ordered his debut album.

Re: greg howe

I think he's an incredible player; i just don't care for the music he writes, especially his fusion stuff. I do however, really dig the "Ascend" album. Also, some of the stuff he did with Richie Kotzen is pretty cool.
peace

Re: greg howe

An amazing player with an amazing tone. I love his Extraction album with Wooten and Chambers. His collaboration with Kotzen is sweet too .

Re: greg howe

A great player. I remember listening to him in the day, but I was more of a Macalpine and Vinnie Moore fan. Haven't heard him of late but will check him out. If I recall correctly he played a hot rodded Fender Strat that was pink. At least that was in a photo article in Guitar player in the mid to late 80's.

Re: greg howe

I just watched the clips that Tubarao posted in the test poll. I was very impressed. I've always knew who he was and how good he is but haven't heard anything recent. Those clips were great to watch. Greg Howe shreds! The whole band is phenomenal too in those clips.

Re: greg howe

good to see no one has voted for the 4th choice in the poll i think its rare to find a player that everyone seems to appreciate. for example, there are a lot of vai fans, but then there are many people that just can't listen to him. but, maybe its just because howe isn't too well known so their just isn't much discussion about him. anyhow (no pun intended), thanks for your input folks and keep the comments coming.
