Guitar or bass finishes

Just a bit curious and wanting to get some ideas.

I want creativity to speak first, but I don't want the ideas to be so ridiculous that it can't be done.

Re: Guitar or bass finishes

a fancy bit of wood is best by miles IMO
a fancy graphic or finish might look great when the guitars sat bein unplayed, but when u strap it on u end up lookin not so good with it.
same goes for big fancy shapes aswell for me!
traditional style shapes and a plain but nice finish all the way

Cherry sunburst looks good on guitars and also honey burst.

Nice one, Tom. I like pearl colors. 3-tone sunburst is cool too.

Re: Guitar or bass finishes

My tastes have changed from the painted or otherwise finished Jems, as the FP, to prefer a high quality quilted maple with a transparent color. And no pickguard!

Re: Guitar or bass finishes

A natural finish which shows the wood grain is nice, but I have to say that I'd prefer the normal paint finish. Bursted, metallic colours are quite nice. My personal favourite? A vintage white finish that ages gracefully over time.

Just shows what I'd like on a guitar. Me showing my designs seems like bad business sense to me.

I don't really care if they do or not. But they should come up with their own designs, and not just take mine.
