When someone says they have an Ibanez, and it is followed by the word "prestige" or "j custom" I immediately know the level of quality in their instrument. And sure if someone says they have a 550 or any other 80/90s RG (5XX or higher) I know they have something really special but you can't be in the past, there's too much mention of "the old ibanez days" being better, which is true, but they are gone, and so right NOW Prestige does mean something special.

Firstly I think iit's important to remember the poll is about the Prestige guitars not J-customs...
Secondly don't get me wrong I think that the prestige guitars are fantastic, but the fact remains that "back in the day" only a handful of guitars were "Prestige" it denoted the top of the line, just as J-custom does today. I'm not saying that the quality is any less nowadays it's just "Prestige" has become a badge synonymous with the "default postion" for excellence.
How long before loads of guitars are fitted with the J-custom logo and the new "Japanese Master Series" or whatever which are even better and shinier are the top of the line, before they're replaced with "J-Ultimate" and then...?
