Re: If you could only have one?

I'd go Strat for a few reasons.

1. I prefer the neck shape.
2. Can be easily modded to be equipped with any pickup/electronic layout for extra versatility.

I did, and you're implying that he doesn't have "rock"...

Whatever, to each his own.

I'd have to have another Strat given those choices. I love Strats in all their various configurations.

The thing that took the Strat out of rotation at my house was the PRS Custom 24 It nails all the Strat sounds I need with ease, and it's a joy to play.

I had a PRS back in the late 80's..... nice guitar, sounded great, but it played stiff compared to a Strat.... At least that was my perception. I wish I had kept it though. She was a Custom 22 w/10 top birdseye maple. No birds though, I chose the moons for neck inlays. She only ever saw studio use.

What do you mean it's already been done
Been there done that myself. I bought a vintage 1990' (I think) kelly green Eric Clapton strat, swapped the bridge pickup for a SD Hotrail and put an original Floyd Rose Tremolo on. I will never forget my father bitching that I ruined a classic signature guitar. It is still my favorite guitar. .......But, last year I bought a PRS 20yr Anniversary Custom 24 with a 10 top and now I seem to favor playing it over the strat. I am more used to the 25.5" scale and classic strat sounds but the PRS super easy to play and sounds great too. The way I have the strat setup is more to my style of playing but the PRS screams tone on the Marshall. I think the PRS gets the vote but it is close.
