IT'S BARBECUING SEASON!: Regular Coal, Hardwood Charcoal, Propane Gas or Other?
Ok, it has been that time of the year for Barbecuing! Next in line after my love for
Ibanez guitars
is cooking. I love to throw a good slab of meat on the grill for eating!
So what do you all think is the best fuel to use on the barbecue? Any good BBQ-ing tips would be great to know or some pics of good cooking or firing up the BBQ are welcome.
And by all means, feel welcome to put secrete recipes on here too!
So far, my favorite fuel for the fire is Hardwood Charcoal...
FLAME ON!!!!!

Mmm.....Where's da BEEEF?!
BBQ'ing and Jems are my fav hobby. Table space set for each one of them
Actually, LP GAS is far easier to use and supposed to be healthier (no carcinogens)
But coals taste sooo much better! (I know, if it tastes good it's bad for ya)
If ya ask me, WOOD in a campfire makes for the best taste!
Errr.....thanks man....now I gotta go light that grill

Hey that flame looks a little too close to the house.
I use regular old propane because it's quick and easy, But I'd like to try that hardwood Charcoal. I've never seen it before.

Have you guys used those chimney things for starting coal? Its really cool and doesn't need any fluid. Its a cylynder that you stack the coal into and in the bottom you put newspapers. You light the papers and it heats the coals until they're ready for cooking, then you just tip the chimney and pour the coals in your gril and you're ready to go - really smart thinking whoever made it.

I'm going to have to give those a shot. I usually just use charcoal with smoking chips, and that makes things turn out pretty good.
I've got some pretty good grilling recipes if anyone is interested!

That's why I watch that flame very close with my fire man suit on with a few buckets of water.

Those look awsome. I forgot that I've seen those on FoodTV and they look very handy. I'm going to keep my eyes out for one so I don't have to use the ol' charcoal fluid. Although, I would miss the "Flame On" momement because I love the roaring flame for starting a BBQ. I'm off to Home Depot to see if I can find the chimney.

I never thought of the carcinogens...CRAP!!!! Why do the tasty things have to be unhealthy?
My next grill will have to be a gas one because I grill too much during the Spring & Summer season. Charcoal will have to be for special moments.
WOOD! Good old camp fire cooking IS the best method. You're right on that. Sheesh it's been a long time since I have been around a camp fire. I need to make some plans for camping now.

Re: IT'S BARBECUING SEASON!: Regular Coal, Hardwood Charcoal, Propane Gas or Other?
I had a propane grill, but I won a Weber kettle charcoal grill in a raffle about two months ago. I will never go back to propane.
Regular coal = charcoal? Like Kingsford?
