James Bond
So who do you guys think, has portrayed James Bond the best?
I think Sean Connery, Roger Moore and Timothy Dalton have done it best so far. And I think that Pierce Brosnan did it good too, but when you see him in any movie, he kind of acts the same every time. For instance in 'The Thomas Crown affair' he plays a character who's just about similar.
Kind regards,

There is a rule for this;
if you are under 25 then Roger Moore is your fave. Over 25 = Sean Connery. Everybody else is crap

Re: James Bond
Myst, i guess you enjoy the James Bond month on veronica (a dutch tv-channel) just as much as i do
anyway, i do like Pierce his acting, but i think that Roger Moore is my all time favorite. I find it really cool that every actor kinda gives his own twist to the character... I think i like Roger's most.
I like Sean a lot to... hmmm hard one...

no way dude, Dalton was totally crap - second only to Lazenby - Ive not seen Craig yet but....
The rule is simple - READ THE BOOKS !!!!!!
ONLY THEN will you know how much of a ruthless bastard Bond really is, and Moore never came close to it...
Dalton did the ruthless without the style !
Connery Rules !!!! closely followed by Brosnan..
I reckon Craig will be good - Ive seen Layer cake and he has the style !!!
my vote is Connery.

Re: James Bond
Connery is Bond, he set the bar as to how Bond should be, so every actor since then are just trying to get to his level.

Not in my opinion. I think The Living Daylights is one of the best Bond films that has been made.

True.

But it contrasts Moore's over politeness nicely.

Seen it aswell, good film. I think he could even give Connery's reputation as the best bond a bit of a knock.

Re: James Bond
I would consider myself a bond fan. I grew up with the Moore Bond, but saw most of the Connery Bonds at a young age as well. After reading some Bond, I felt that Moore was enjoyable but unbelievable, Connery felt archaic to me (in the 80s obviously) and his return in Never Say Never Again didn't do his credibility any good IMHO.
I had high hopes for Dalton, his two movies are spoiled only by the presence of Wayne Newton and Jeroen Krabbé respectively. Perhaps the producers thought that a drier/harder Bond (like Dalton) needed some comic relief, in this case baddies with a wink; too camp for me, I'm afraid.
I think a good bond needs a good villain, so Brosnan really was helped by having Sean Bean, in much the same way that Donald Pleasence did for Connery. Dalton vs Davi is also a great match-up. Whereas Brosnan vs Jonathan Pryce is rubbish.
I am really looking forward to seeing Daniel Craig "the blond bond" as most of the reviews portray him as truer to the role (Flemings character) than any before, save perhaps Dalton.

Re: James Bond
poor ol' george lazenby never stood a chance. look at the script he had to work with: the only bond film which depicted 007 as a married man and, subsequently, widower. and that cheesy moment when he addresses the camera directly: "this never happened to the other guy!" what was that all about??
i gave him my vote, just because he's an aussie.

Ditto...
I thought Golden Eye was a great Bond film, but the rest of the Bronson era blew.
