Jemsite vs others

Ok well I am a member of many different forums online. Jemsite is by far the most friendly and most populated. What do you think? And please dont trash other forums.

Re: Jemsite vs others

Every forum I frequent has a different vibe and I also tend to visit forums that focus on a particular brand or brands. I like the specialization of them.

Me too. But as far as administration, population, and caliber of people who frequent this forum exceeds any other forum I visit.

Re: Jemsite vs others

I'm here because Jemsite is probably the best (modern) Ibanez guitar forum around.

Re: Jemsite vs others

Can't really vote, as I haven't really checked out other forums much. But some forums out there are way less nice to hang around than this one, for sure. I do know that, FWIW.

Re: Jemsite vs others

I think that Jemsite is quite heavily moderated compared to other forums, a sort of zero tollerance approach that keeps the BS levels right down (most of the time)

I think that really helps on any internet forum. It's my fave place online.

Re: Jemsite vs others

best by far. I belong to another music website dedicated to Australian musicians, and it is a good forum, the vibe sucks. Many rude young musos, who have no respect whatsoever.......

Jemsite is by far m most frequented website....

Which is why I pay a yearly donation to be a contributor

I appreciate the overall adult attitudes and behavior of most members and particularly the mods. I think I could sit and drink a beer with about 90% of the people here. Not so on other boards.

Re: Jemsite vs others

I voted It's the best...However it's only the best by default. This is the only forum I have spent more than 15 seconds on.

Going to a new forum and digging in your heels to get a foothold of the situation to establish an identity is hard to do, and besides everyone here knows what a bone head I am already!

Re: Jemsite vs others

I kind of don't hang out here much anymore, not that it's bad, but the over heavy handedness when it comes to the place that shall not be named is a bit, well, ott for my tastes, plus a few of the other things. Basically, it's changed a lot since 2000-2003 when i was here a lot, and in ways that really just kind of put me off in a few ways.

As I said, not that it's bad, and maybe my tastes have changed, but I hang out way more at sevenstring.org and metalguitarist.org these days as it's more varied. I'm still an ibanez nut, still love old jems, still love old UV's, but have found that collectors get my goat, swirls aren't the greatest thing in the world and don't understand the general obsession with the elvis jem.

However, the tech sections here are the best around.

Moderation is needed, but I think it is a bit too heavy handed on here sometimes.

Still, it's a brilliant resource, always has been

Re: Jemsite vs others

This is the only guitar forum I'm ever on anymore. I don't have the time to be on the JCF anymore (good forum that one though) and the others I just left because I don't like modern metal. (I can only read so many posts about black metal vs. death metal vs. black death metal vs whateverthehellelse metal vs. Mesh before I leave forever, no matter what the site is supposed to be about). I hang out occasionally on martialtalk which is a good martial arts forum, and talkbass as well, but I'm usually here if I'm online.

As for the moderation being heavy here, well, there are rules here It's our job to enforce them (not to write them or make them up on the fly), and that's what we do. We don't pick and choose which rules to enforce and which to ignore, which in my mind would lead to a considerably more volatile environment. More than 99% of the people who get banned from here get banned on their first post for spamming us. I doubt there's even an infraction a week given out here, honestly. Unlike other forums, you don't see the mods here dominating a particular forum and brooking no dissent either. Post about your Strat/PRS/Les Paul or anything else here and folks will congratulate you on it and wish you well with it. I can think of forums that doesn't happen on....

This is a great place, and it's great because of the people who post here and hang out here. So, I voted the first choice
