Joe stump Vs Yngwie Malmsteen
Two non ibanez players so it wouldn't be one sided. I like stump although I think IMO copied malmsteen a bit. I like Stump's tone better

I gotta tell you I like Stump better. He's a cool guy. As apposed to Yngwie who's an arrogant prick.

There should be an option for neither. Then I could vote.

I shouldn't have said that I've never heard of Joe Stump before.

Re: Joe stump Vs Yngwie Malmsteen
I really like Joe Stump.
He was one of my teachers at Berklee, and believe it or not, he was really cool. He seemed like kind of a hard ass in class, but when you actually went up to talk to him about stuff, he was really cool and down to earth. But don't try to talk over him, or heaven forbid, play over him.
But, he was really funny. He would wear the same **** for like a week straight, and he made these very funny facial expressions when he played.
But Joe Stump is cool. I'll admit, and he will too, that he is a complete Yngwie rip-off. Someone had to do it, and nobody would have done it better than him.
We actually used to think he didn't change because he couldn't get out of his tight ass pants without having to cut them off, so he'd just wear them for a week at a time.
Joe Stump has some really good phrasing, and he puts a lot of thought into the stuff he does. Sometimes too much. I could really talk about this guy for a while.
He would mix tracks with like 4 or 5 rhythm sections alone. It was too much, too overdone. I think if he would have simplified some of his stuff, it would have been outstanding.
But after that whole rant, he's a pretty cool dude.

Re: Joe stump Vs Yngwie Malmsteen
Both of them are world class players. I had a chance to meet Joe Stump in one of his performances when I was vacationing in Mexico city and I must say he is quite a good player in his own right, granted he sounds a lot like Yngwie but I think he puts his own spin to it just like Chris Impellitteri does, so to call him clone seems unfair and stupid and I bet that whomever has this opinion hasn't really listened much of his material but then again opinions and tastes vary, I just wish that people stopped dissing Yngwie and other neoshredders because of their speed, we've heard it all before "he always sounds the same, he is too fast, he has no sense of melody blah, blah, blah" if you don't like their music fine but don't criticize them every chance you have because these players have an audience out there just like Satriani and Johnson and Vai and what's more, some of those who criticize them couldn't even touch Yngwie's or Joe's chops and whether you would like to accept it or not Yngwie has influnced a load of players and musicians so lay off on him!!!
Oh and as far as the poll is concerned I vote for both.

Re: Joe stump Vs Yngwie Malmsteen
Seems strange to me that people will happily slag off Yngwie then rave about Yngwie mkII. It's just jumping on the Yngwie-bashing bandwagon
I will vote for Yngwie coz he was the original. It would seem more logical if people were into neither or both.

Re: Joe stump Vs Yngwie Malmsteen
There will always be those insecure people that put others down to cover up their weaknesses.
My personal experience - I picked up Joe's DVD "Chopbuilder for Rock Guitar" and quite enjoyed it. Just following his instruction for right hand technique has improved my right hand technique immensely. On another note - he plays an etude on the DVD that didn't have any tab so I emailed him personally and he replied with the guitar pro tab in a few hours. Seems like a pretty good guy to me.
