Which one do you think is best? I prefer jason becker because not only was he an amazing progressive guitarist but he was a really really good classical guitarst!!!!

jason becker all the way....but at times he used to lose way in melody in pursuit of shred. but still GODLY PLAYER !!! \m/ \m/

I gotta go with Petrucci, assuming that it's John.
I am not too familiar with Jason Becker, and as much as I hate to admit it, I can't listen to an entire Vai album in one sitting.
Though I have to say asking this here is like going to a Catholic church and asking how the people prefer Jesus, Buddah, or Allah.

I think the reason why MacAlpine is never included in these polls or any other ones like this is because everyone sees him as a sideman in the Vai band. Face it -- being in the Vai band is probably the most exposure he's ever gotten. That said, he really is a spectacular musician if you check out his solo stuff and his stuff with CAB.

I'm sure if every guitarist of this caliber was put in, it would be a much larger poll.
Personally, I could probably list 4-5 guys I would prefer.
There's no way to please everyone with any polls like this.

Yeah I know they all end up like that, which is the reason behind my first post in this thread. My second one was a joke, I hope you caught on to it

Dude you guys need to chill! I like a ton of other guitarist besides these 3 i listed. I was just wondering what you would have to rank them. Hey megadeth, dude i'm with you Marty Friedman rocks! Especially in his old cacaphony with jason becker!!! Also i'm new to this site so sorry if you guys don't like these polls....but if you don't like them then don't look at them. Its just the logical thing to do instead of complain. I would agree that i could just listen to a vai album in 1 sitting also.
