Re: JS or JEM?
I'd have to agree, the JS's neck is way more comfortable for me than that of a JEM's (well, that's because I play a strat). I love the sleekness of the JS, yet love the beauty of the JEMs.

Re: JS or JEM?
I've got lots of both :P If it comes down to sounds the JEM10
for me
has the best sound and feel of any guitar, ever.
However there's nothing more fun that jamming a few Satch tunes out on a chromeboy.
The necks aren't at all dissimilar and the trem is of course the same.
On stage, either is as versatile as the other really, just different, I personally prefer getting my clean sounds from the 4 position of the JEM to the coil tapped middle of the JS as it's one movement instead of 2.
And that is really just about it.
I think the
Paf Pro
Jems are more versatile than the Evo equipped ones, and cope with more styles simply as I think the clean tones are better, but the JEM10 lead tones for me are where it's REALLY at.
The truth is you don't need either of these guitars, but it's a hell of a lot of fun to own both

What a concept
And just whats wrong with Vai having a
signature guitar
as opposed to Satch having one Vette6600?? If you stick a JS body on it wouldn't it be automatically branded a "
Joe Satriani
guitar"?????
Am I missing some sort of logic here..........I'm confused
But then again....that's an easy state for me to find

You can't get around how great the JS model looks
, it's slick simply.

Re: JS or JEM?
If someone would care to donate one of each, I'd be more than happy to A/B them both and offer my opinions. ;-)

Re: JS or JEM?
JS look better, but the 24 fretness of a JEM means i would probably be tempted by one.
tough call both are awesome!

Re: JS or JEM?
Jem, I wish they would make a model with a string-thru bridge, neck-thru body (non-bolt on), get rid of the middle pick-up, & make it available in a few different colors.
Also, one great thing about the Jem, it's not called a Steve Vai series or it doesn't have his name on it.

IMHO that wouldn't be a Jem anymore.
