My suggestion would be "slow down".

You're acting your age (if you are 13), but spending like you're having a midlife crisis!!!

I'd suggest you take a step back and then look again at what it is you're after. Do you want rock tones, metal tones, 'core tones? Do you want them from one amp, two amps, heads, combos, rack systems? Do you want discreet systems or do you want to share elements of your set up?

I'd say sit down with your band and go over what the plans are, gigs, recording, jamming in the garage and then work out what sort of equipment would suit your needs. then hit the internet to work out the options, then hit the stores to try the options, taking your favourite guitar (for each style of music you want to cover) with you.

Most folks here would love to be in the situation you're in with a seemingly limitless budget to buy a couple of high end amps, so you'll get some resentment from some guys especially if you act like a kid in a candy store "I want this one and this one, No!!! this one". But... if you actually sit down and do this sensibly, you'll get a lot of respect.

im a very tight person aha, im very precise and like being accurate.

im not a kid in a candy store aha, this is all the money ive earnt working, doing odd jobs, in my life and i want to spend it on an amp
i think i iwll buy a krankenstein jr and 2 of there 1x12 cabs or 1
i will then see how all gigs and stuff go and when ever i can seize the chance get a mk iv
its roughly 2 grand aus

but also - im not patient
i want things now!!
hahaha
but im getting better, ive been doing all my scales and exercises like 30-60 minutes at a time, and its helping me focus more and become more patient.

my band play stuff kinda like job for a cowbo, parkway, with racer x, gilbert and vai type solos
and we do a few morbid angel covers.

and i could never afford a mk v
$6000 australian for an amp?
thats about as much as id spend on a car when im older.

BTW - im 15 now ahaha
bday was in september on the 5th

soz for long post, i ramble a fair bit.

im 15, and have a bad habit if staying up most nights reading up on guitar gear, trying to learn all i can, but i still dont know how heaps works, like graphic eq, and how ibanez backstops keep the floyd in tune?

Dude, a f***ing mesa boogie mark V (or IV, w/e lol) is the kind of thing I'd get after I moved out, not as a Christmas present for a minor

Get the Krank as you said, or a Bugera or something relatively cheap. Just because something doesn't cost more than your parent's retirement fund doesn't mean it can't sound good.

Re: Mesa MK IV, MK III, Rocktron Prophecy or Both?

ok, so
i just contacted krank,

for me to order the krank jr head in purple from them wil cost 900 aus, i can then buy a 2x12 for 200-500 aus second-hand

they're trying to get me to buy the krank rev jr pro and one of the x12 at 2000 from billy hydes!!!

i'm dissapointed, he didnt answer any of the questions i asked in the email such as - can i buy a replacement cord because of the worldwide voltage selector, and will it soud good through a 2x12?

Re: Mesa MK IV, MK III, Rocktron Prophecy or Both?

I'd personally E-mail them back with all the questions they didn't answer. Maybe even phone, if long distance charges aren't an issue (They might if it comes to hour long 'on holds'). Badger them until they give in, that's really the only way you can get an uncooperative company to cooperate

Glad I'm somewhat helpful.

You're asking the sales guy if his product sounds good?

...

As I said, before take a moment, slow down and take a step back.

Come on dude, you keep making new "which amp" threads, but you never seem to listen to the advice given.

No one but you is gonna be able to tell you which amp sounds best to you, so, go try some amps and make a decision already!

Rock on!

You're young and we've all been there but no one, I repeat no one can answer questions like that except you.

Many of us spend years and tens of thousands of dollars chasing "our tone" but the only way we ever find it is to try things and buy things. There are no quick and easy or cheap answers here. No one can tell you "This is the amp/rig you should buy because it will sound best to you.". Tone is like the flavor of food. Different people like different things so there is no universal answer.

The best thing you can do is separate the objective (facts, specs) from the subjective (opinions). Write a list (yes, write an actual list) of the features you want from an amp/rig and if necessary, prioritize them. Once you clearly identified your objective needs then you can start looking for gear that fulfills those needs. The next step will be going into stores and playing through the gear to find out what sounds and feels best to you. If you want it (your ultimate tone) then you are going to have to work for it. There are no shortcuts.

Re: Mesa MK IV, MK III, Rocktron Prophecy or Both?

ok so
went to guitar store last night and played everything.

nothing.

mesa rectifiers, marshall kk, jcm 800, you name it (except the randy rhoads was nice, but too expensive)
tried all bugera, ashton, peavey (including jsx), ibanez, vox and fender (again, dual reverb was nice, but too much and no heavy's) everything

and nothing

cept a mesa lonestar, but doesnt do great heavy's

this is gonna take me forever!

but my teacher works at music headquarters and has offered me to try out a mesa studio preamp before they sell it, thats ok i guess, and he's asking 700

so well see what happens
