Mesa MK IV, MK III, Rocktron Prophecy or Both?
ok
ive been going on for ages and talking crap alot, my mind changes in a second and im terrible with choices,
so im gonna let you decide! you guys actually know what will sound good and work well!
ok so
tone = metalcore, Rusty Cooley,
Petrucci
, vai, satch, blues and country th usual
so what would be best? i played an MK IV at my guitar teacher's house and it sounded awesome through his mesa 2x12
but is a MK III as heavy?
shouldi get like a MK III and
rocktron
? or rocktron and something else? the effects would be mighty useful, un less someone has a spare g-force lying around for less than liek 1k aus
please also post what you voted for and why
and if i get a head ill get a G-Force probs
thanx

Re: Mesa MK IV, MK III, Rocktron Prophecy or Both?
I'd personally go for a MKV as from what I've heard you the best of all worlds as long as you like the intrinsic
Mesa
tone, which I'm assuming you do. It's also a bang up to date amp so you can pick one up in store (assuming you've been working out
)under warranty.
I'm not familiar with the rocktron though so can't advise there, sorry.

Re: Mesa MK IV, MK III, Rocktron Prophecy or Both?
Completely different championships.
GO FOR BOTH Mk.4 + Prophesy!
I have a Carvin Quad-X Amp (which is sort of a Mk.IV) and a Rocktron Chameleon (the Prophesy's predecessor).
They have different features and purposes, so... I won't sell either!
The Quad-X is paired with a Peavey Classic 50/50 EL84 power amp and is my main rig (some FX processors in the loops also).
The Chameleon (since it is FX embedded) is paired with a Rocktron Velocity 100 solid-state power amp and is my backup/practice/home studio rig.
I prefer having a full digital/solid-state backup rig just in case something goes wrong with the all-tube rig and/or there is some sort of problem with the mains power of the gig.
That being, and in your situation, you bet I'd go with both!!!
I know the Mk.4 really well. It's a really versatile amp, lots of gain, excellent tone. Never got my hands on the Mk.3... but I think the Mk.4 sports the same gain structure as the Mk.3.
Never tried the Prophesy as well, but I know well both Voodu Valve and Chameleon, its predecessors, and I also know the features of the Prophesy. It's Rocktron, what else can I say?
Huge (but I mean *HUGE*) gain, fantastic effects, 200% versatility. You'll never get to use it 100% of its capabilities.

Do you really believe mesa would make an amp that sucks???!!!
Besides what people are saying (I can picture what kinda people), we all have different ears and tastes.
So asking what you should buy is nonsense cause people don't listen the same way you do.

I've heard it rocks, and I've heard it and it rocks. If you know someone in the UK selling theirs straight away, let me know.
Mk IV would do for me as well.
but I have to say I've really enjoyed the modern Mesas I've tried.

Re: Mesa MK IV, MK III, Rocktron Prophecy or Both?
Get a Mesa Mark V
Seriously, from what I've heard of it, it's basically the ultimate amp and could probably stand up to the fabled Axe-FX. Have you seen it's list of features? Dunno who would want to sell it. Plus John Petrucci loves it and I'm pretty using Lamb of God are using them.
Edit: Just noticed the thread is about the mark IV/ III, oops :S

It's doesn't make sense to compare the MK V to the Axe-FX. It's apples to oranges.

Some apples are better than other apples, and some are rotten. Same thing for oranges. Thus you can compare apples and oranges to each other by comparing them to the general quality of other apples and other oranges.
Also, you can compare them in the sense of "Oranges are more acidic, both are sweet, they are different colors, can vary in size but are often similar to each other in size, etc"

Just because you don't like its tone it doesn't means rectifiers suck.
Personal tastes mean nothing cause we all listen in different ways.
I could say marshall sucks but that's just my personal taste about marshall's tone, but the amp is good.
Rectifiers tone suck to your ears but not the amp itself cause all mesa amps are built like tanks.
I love rectifiers for cleans and heavy rhythm guitars.
Maybe you don't play heavy.
With a rectifier I can build a mark IV tone but with a mark IV I can't build a rectifier tone.
To me an amp sucks when it's badly built, with plastic parts and everybody is complaining about problems with it.
So many people love rectifiers amps so who is right them or you?
Nobody cause tastes are personal.

For me, the Rectifier series sucks. Tonewise, OBVIOUSLY!!!
Everyone knows M/Bs are toughly built. Marshalls too. Curiously, I don't like Marshall tone also.
And yes, I play heavy. Too heavy, in fact, sometimes. Read the thread, check out my gear and see for yourself. Also, check my profile and listen to the songs my bands play and hear it yourself.
Who's right? Obviously me. Why? That's easy...
It's me playing my music, not everybody else. It's my hands, my ears, my guitars, my music. Therefore, it's my opinion and my personal taste.
Nothing against those who love Rectifiers! I just don't like them.
And I'm not saying you can't like Rectifiers.
Get it now? It wasn't any sort of personal attack!
(It's a shame you thought that...)

I thought nothing,I don't take anything as a personal attack cause it's not real life and we're talking about equipment.
And you're wrong because the new amp goes to other dude and not to you so he could like rectifiers tone.
When somebody asks about any equipment OBVIOUSLY he will hear it with HIS ears so it doesn't matter YOUR(mine) tastes about this or that tone.
That's why I said personal tastes don't matter.
You say rectifiers suck I say rectifier rules.
Nobody is wrong or right about tones.
And OBVIOUSLY mesa and marshall AMPS don't suck as equipment.
Behringer sucks lol

Actually, Behringer doesn't suck. They have very sturdy gear and with awsome bang for buck.
I know it's HIS ears and HIS tone. But he asked for an opinion, so he had one.
He's still encouraged to try out the gear for himself! C'mon, it's like a pair of pants. They may suit me, but they might not be comfortable for you.
