Question

Most difficult techniques?

I divided the techniques into basic catagories, because else I wouldn't have enough space. With 'special effects' I'm referring to things like pick scraping, pressing the strings against the pole pieces etc.

I find alternate picking quite challenging. Aswell as whammy.

But you know, I find that I actually hardly ever practise. I can express myself on the instrument, and that is sufficient for me. I don't necessarily need to be a technical wizard.

Whenever I learn a song, and I come across a phrase that requires a lot of technique, I just learn how to play that particular phrase. I don't sit down so much to work on a certain technique in general.

Kind regards,
Alwin

with you there!

Hardest thing ive attempted to learn is sweep picking. I absolutly cannot do it. Tapping is easy to do, but being able to do it well is another question.

it's all in the theory for tapping well

I definitly think sweeping very hard and next to that a couple diff picking styles

Re: Most difficult techniques?

Sweep picking is something I have always had a problem with personally. Luckily my alternate picking usually makes up for it. But I get so annoyed when practising sweep picking sometimes, frustrating. My legato could use some hefty work too. But I have never really dug the legato type sound, so I have never really bothered working it too much.

If I'm honest, I got out of the "practising" thing a while ago now. I just play for some fun and a laugh now, just learning some new riffs/licks from songs I like. I use PowerTab all the time now, great software!

Same here. I just can't be asked to sit there practising scales, etc, etc. I just get bored to easily! I rather learn a good song or riff.

I find alternate picking a bit difficult, particularly when skipping strings. Perhaphs I should practice more............

Check out this guy. His fingers move too fast for the camera to follow!

I can't sweep pick at all.

Re: Most difficult techniques?

None of the above.

Sweeping (cleanly) and hybrid picking are much more difficult.
