Re: most toneful pickups

I just recently installed Seymour Duncan SH2 and SH4's in my S-470dxqm and am SO happy I did, what an amazing sound! I replaced th stock volume and tone pots as well as the 5 way switch that I replaced with a 3 way...I found the originals all muddy and not very controllable, now WOW!

Re: most toneful pickups

Obviously on Jemsite, Dimarzio is going to win this poll. LOL. Personally I am a BKP convert after being a Dimarzio nut for years. I also love Fralin's and Bill Lawrence's (The real Bill Lawrence) stuff. Yet the Tone Zone is still one of the best pickups ever made IMO.

Re: most toneful pickups

DiMarzio
Paf Pro, Blaze Custom, Blue Velvet (s/c) Evo's (and 7's) Breeds YJM (s/c)

Bill Larewrence (the proper ones)
XL500(bridge)

Seymour Duncan
Pearly Gates, JB

EMG
81, 85

Ibanez
The hums in my Uncles FA-100 (i guess PAF replica's) it's a 73 model

Reflex
Silver set, awesome active pickups, i miss them muchly

Gibson
Burstbuckers, absolutely own in my Faded LP

Jackson
J50BC(i think it is) and J200 (s/c)

Bare Knuckles
Painkiller

Of course they all sound differant, and have differant tones, i know a LOT of people who will hate a lot of those pickups.

A quick example

I bought a DiMarzio TZ7 off of a member here, i found out after he bought it off a friend of mine (small world huh) he hated it, with a passion, i loved it - Go Figure

I'll vote other, purely down to the fact not 1 pickup maker, on this globe outshines the others in any way shape form or fashion, or there would only be Brand X pickups

Rob

p.s i'd also like to mention the PRS Dragon pickup
