*Poll* - Most Innovative Guitarist

Who do you think is perhaps one of the most innovative guitar players to come around... Think about versatility... I KNOW that vai has his own sound but there are a lot more versatile players out there that are doing their own thing.. IMO vai has had his sound since his first album, and it hasn't changed a great deal.. the style has maintained fairly consistent..

Guthrie for me.

Alot will say EVH, but he only brought his techniques to the top with Van Halen, he didnt really invent them though.

Re: *Poll* - Most Innovative Guitarist

Guthrie IMO is probably the best guitar player on the planet right now (if you can pick one regardless of style.) I chose Mattias just because of how different he sounds then everyone else.. His tapping & use of harmonics is incredible.. Now if only 95% of his music wasn't so ***

If dead folk count, then a certain Mr Hendrix would have to be right near the top of the list.

More recently, how about Matt Bellamy? He's one of the few guitarists of late to make me sit up and take notice.

Mattias Eklundh all the way. The stuff he pulls off is amazing, those harmonics, insane!

But he was an innovator in the sense that he totally redefined the electric guitar itself.

Re: *Poll* - Most Innovative Guitarist

Well I said EVH... he basically kicked off the whole 80s shred guitar era so he gets my vote.

Re: *Poll* - Most Innovative Guitarist

I voted EVH simply because I think you can honestly say that he and his techniques influenced many of the guitarists on that list.
