PRS
What should I order? I'm going to give two choices, because I think the Jem will, duh, have the most votes, but I want you too...if you vote for the Jem, please make a PRS vote too, even if you don't like PRS'.
I voted Artist, because I think it is the best bang for the buck. Moreover, I didn't vote for the Jem because I think we/I will be disappointed once again!

Re: PRS
The Artists are really nice, and of course the Private Stock. I am GASing for a PRS with a Brazilian
Rosewood neck
with the wide/thin neck carve. Oh yeah, and the Hollowbody with a Piezo. Those things are just stunning.

Re: PRS
I wouldn't call an Artisk pack good bang for your buck - the "leather" case isn't real leather!! If I was going to order a PRS with mu own cash it would be a regular custom 24 (with birds of course). I don't like the Singlecut and I wouldn't be able to justify the price of the other.
On the other hand I'm sure the Jem 20th will be a bit special

Re: PRS
If you want a PRS, go for the Custom 24 ( Artist Pack if you can afford it ), but I think a JEM is better in every way.

Re: PRS
Surely the best bang for buck is going to be a regular 22/24 - you get the same pickups, neck, hardware etc, and you're not paying for what are, at the end of the day, almost purely cosmetic features (notwithstanding a solid Brazilian Rosewood neck - which is NOT part of the Artist package). Even the most diehard PRS fans on their forum agree that Ten tops and Artist packages don't result in a better
sounding guitar
Dead bog ordinary Custom 22, albeit with (not better sounding) 10 top - not horribly expensive, yet does everything that an Artist Package, or even Private Stock does (and Green too!)
Also, it's almost impossible to draw any comparison between a JEM and a PRS - they really are fundamentally different guitars - it's like trying to compare a Strat and a
Les Paul
, neither is "better", just different!
Cheers

Re: PRS
Hm I would go for a Custom 24 over the 22, you get the full octave.
Tis a shame they don't make them anymore with sweet switches.

Re: PRS
Private Stock - If you have the means I highly recommend picking one up, they're so choice.
Mint?
Seriously though, if you have the option of a private stock, I'd say go for one of those, get the woods colours and pickups you want, get exactly what you want from a PRS and enjoy the near endorsement deal experience
If you can get it for a reasonable price from a dealer, you probably wouldn't lose that much on resale due to the exclusivity involved.

Re: PRS
I got quotes, Artist is $2975, which to me I don't think it is bad, considering the top is definately a better top. Private Stock is $7999. But I might get a custom graphic which will add to the price, but to me it is worth it.
What is a sweet switch?

Re: PRS
A friend of mine has a PRS Custom 24, red with gold hardware, the thing plays mint, I love it, I wish PRS weren't so pricey, they are nice guitars.

Re: PRS
The SE series plays well too, beleive it or not. They could be great guitars with a decent set-up.
