Owned high end versions of both - the PRS Singlecut just eats my old
Gibson Custom Shop
57 Reissue for breakfast in every respect.

Re: PRS SC or Les Paul
I love the tone of the PRS, but being that I would never own either guitar, I would have to go with a
Les Paul
, just because it's classic. I'm a Strat/Jem guy personally, so I guess my vote means squat.

Re: PRS SC or Les Paul
I buy a Gibson every five years or so, because I love the sounds of a Les Paul. I've never kept one for more than 18 months. They just don't feel "right" in my hands. I'm in the market for a LP Special Double Cut with P-90s. I've played the faded finished LPS, but the lack of a smooth
clear coat
was a turn off.
The PRS 24
fret guitars
with standard trems are nice, but I've never cared for their wrap around bridge/ tailpiece.
I guess I'm more of a Strat / Ibanez guy myself.

Re: PRS SC or Les Paul
I'd like the PRS - I find LP's uncomfortable to play sitting down. I would also like the PRS in a satin finish - Mmmmm.

If you haven't already you should check out the thread on the Carvin single-cut - they look sweet.

Exactly. This thread came out right after the Carvin announcement, I'm surprised the Carvin isn't in the mix.

I've only played the SE variants, but the PRS wide-thin neck is very nice.

No no no, Jim, I saw your post of the Carvin, I believe my quote was "the headstock makes me want to puke!" Nice body, I just don't like it.
You are getting one Jim?

Re: PRS SC or Les Paul
I find both instruments to be VERY different choices. To me a PRS sounds, looks, and feels like a PRS, and a Les Paul is something all together different. Pick the one that you like better, not because one is supposed to be a replacement or "upgrade" for the other.

I like the PRS better, I think it has a nicer shape.

Nah
I love their 7's though. Of these two I'd probably go with the PRS, because I love the PRS neck profile. I'd rather a Custom 24 over the SC though as well.
