Speaking from experience with the originals rather than the re-issues (I'm old school ) I'd have to say the 770, I love the cool colour matched inlays and pickups. The make the guitar so much more "finished"

I prefer the Ruby Red color but I don't like the clear pickguard and matching inlays (I don't like shark teeth inlays) so for me it's RFR

I have a 1991 RG770DXLB I bought new in 1992, so I'm biased.There are a zillion RG's out there to be had, so I just don't see anything special about an RG20th... in comparison, there just aren't a lot of 770DX's out there. IMO, go with the 770.

for the price I can see someone saying the RG, but that black pickguard makes it look cheaper, like an old Hondo, in comparison...
