Satch's tone, better with peavey or marshall.

I think Joe's tone has gone to the dogs since changing to peavey. I wish hed go back to Marshall and return to the good old days. What do you think.

I would say Marshall. I'm defiantely a Marshall kinda guy. Although i've been recommended to try the Peavey 5150 on another forum.

I think his tone was a little fuzzy for my liking, but with his legato runs it sounds bad ass.

MArshalll all the way just compare his tone on Live in SF with the Malmsteen G3. Nuff said...

I like em both

Satch is so good at absolutely nailing tones from the gear availible to him, and the tones on his new album are incredible.

Let's compare apples: Live in SF to the Time Machine live disk. Or The first G3 CD to the second. The difference is subtle, but it's there nonetheless. His tone is a bit thicker with the Marshalls.

Marshall tone. I love his tone on the G3 live cd with Eric Johnson and Steve Vai. I also like his Crystal Planet and Extremist tone. The tone on his recent albums sounds a bit thin

Re: Satch's tone, better with peavey or marshall.

from the extremist to now is good. blue dream and older are bad...but the peavey tone is way meaner than the marshall tone he had before. anyway, he was more dependant on the ds-1 than the marshall. he explained most of that in the san fran dvd. although that dvd is satch's best tone to date. i voted for the peavey tone because his tone is alot more agressive and to me has put a level of excitement back into joe's playing.

Re: Satch's tone, better with peavey or marshall.

Marshall = MASH all !!!-you just can't beat that sound, these new amps are all copys of the one & only true vintage sounding amp that made music history posible- & if you think a Mashall is weaker & less agressive in sound get Zak Wild to play thu a Peavey, the thing would just sh!t its self after 10 min -lol!
come on bro's- Joe only went with Peavey for the cash you all know that don't you?

away this Albanian guy here in Australia read the Peavy logo on a sign in the guitar store i get my supplys from & said to the owner of the store that "the word Peavey was slang in Albanian for the word you use in englishy call-et C*NT - you know (he added) the girl's thingy between da leg's"
The owner of the store , i, & the sale people were on the ground it tears laughing our brains out! He was a very funny man!

No offence to the Peavey lover's on this site- lol!

Cheers- Jake.

Re: Satch's tone, better with peavey or marshall.

after seeing him live last week, i'll wholeheartedly go for the peavey. it seems much more versatile than his old marshalls and it seems ballsier too. it's hard to judge on his releases because his style has changed so much from the days with the marshalls. i think people are probably digging his old style more than they preferring the old tone. cause the old songs through his jsx sounded incredible imo.

Meh, I don't really like Satch's tone either way.

As for Marshall's lacking balls, I've always thought they do compared to some.
