Steven Seagal
http://www.stevenseagal.com/
The greatest blues guitarist to ever grace the face of the earth?
Once again, I must have been sleeping through the last 20 years. This is nearly as bizarre as Don Johnson's music career.

Re: Steven Seagal
Stevie needs to stick to his nunchucks.
I will say he has a TREMENDOUS
guitar collection
- and I admire his love of guitar, but for him to compare himself to REAL blues players is typical of the Hollywood ego.
And to compare himself with Buddy?
Clapton doesn't even compare himself with Buddy Guy for Chr1st sake.

Re: Steven Seagal
Actually I saw him on a program here in the UK a while back called The Friday Night Project (they get a different celebrity to host each week and I think it was his turn) and he was VERY funny. Not 'cue-card' funny, but a very dry sense of humour. If his appearance on that was anything to go by, the Buddy stuff is probably just for kicks
But if it isn't, STFU.

Re: Steven Seagal
It's easy to get a great guitar collection if you're mega rich. A 1950 Broadcaster, a 54 Strat. Dead easy when you've got a stash of cash
If I had loads of cash and offered Vai a gerjillion dollars for Evo he'd take it and then I could set up a website boasting that I owned Evo.

I don't think vai would sell evo for any price, especially since he has all the money he needs...

Re: Steven Seagal
Hahahaha I watched some videos of him - he's not bad at all. I wouldn't put him up there with the greats, but I was impressed. I love how everyone gets offended on behalf of Buddy.

Re: Steven Seagal
His playing is better than his acting, but that isn't saying much.
But I'll say this, after listening to some of the tracks, i was surprised it was actually listenable. I was expecting some Bruce Willis sounding crap.

Re: Steven Seagal
I kind of get the impression that some of these famous people start believing their own hype, and live under the false impression that anything they touch turns to gold.
Using Mr Seagal as an example, lets be honest, if he wasn't a famous actor, his blues album would never have existed.
If he were an average person trying to break through in the music business he would have absolutely no chance judged solely on the strength of his material.
His fame as an actor(and I use the term loosely) is the only reason he was able to generate interest in his music.
Just my 2 cents.
Rock on!

You're right, that isn't saying much
I'll have to listen to a clip just so I have heard him play. His acting and movies isn't watchable IMHO.

Re: Steven Seagal
Well, I didn't vote! What's there to vote about? Comparing him to Buddy Guy? Come on...... Hey, while I may not like his acting I've got to give him props for several things. The first for having a avid interest in music and pursuing it!
Second, for having one nice collection. I say more power to the guy if he can afford to! Let's face it, everyone of us has the opportunity to better ourselves to make owning these kind of things possible. Just gotta get of your ass and want it bad enough! If you fail.... don't give up.
Third, any guy who can land Kelly LeBrock must have something going.
I know, I know...... some will say "money"! But damn guys, are the women you meet really that shallow? He obviously must have had more than money!
As far as him being better than some other players.... jeez, when will we ever get over this deal of turning music into a competition? Every player is at a different level than the next player. So who's really to say if he's "better" than someone else?
Heck, lets face it being a musician requires a couple of things..... one of those things is an ego. That's what leads to the "competition" side of playing. If he claiming to be as good as "so and so", well he better be able to back it up with performance! Otherwise, all the rest of us can do is make comparisons based on the type of music and a players skill level. Other than that, it's just personal opinion.
Kirk..... I guess I missed it on his web page where he's claiming to be "The greatest blues guitarist to ever grace the face of the earth" as you question!? So I'm missing your point in even asking the question!?
What I heard offered on his web site wasn't bad at all. Quite listenable actually. I'd surely rather buy and listen to his CD than sit through some of his movies again though!
