STP albums

Which one is your favorite? This is going to be hard. This is one band in my opinion that was way underated and each album sounded a lot different from the previous one. DeLeo played around with so many different guitars, amps, tunings, techniques, and song writing approaches.

Re: STP albums

For me Tiny Music is very different and innovative. But I like all of their albums, so depending on the day, it can change.

STP never really did anything for me, but I like to vote.

Re: STP albums

Core defintely. That album is one of my favorites of ALL music. After TM:SFTVGS (what an abbreviation!), they started to lose me. No. 4 did have a few decent songs on it though. STP is in me though. My dad has played that album (and the others) ever since I was born (1991), so the songs are practically "embedded" in my brain.

Re: STP albums

Another vote for Core. Was never into the whole grunge thing, but STP seemed to have a classic rock element to their sound to me that was just different. There are some good tracks on all the albums, but Core just shades it from Purple for me because of Sex Type Thing and Crackerman.

You're making me feel old.

Yes, when they came out they got grouped into the grunge category, but they proved to be different with their later albums. I'm pissed at Weiland for leaving the band. Velvet Revolver is not the band STP was.

Re: STP albums

I prefer Talk Show and Army of Anyone to STP. I do like STP a lot though. I can't say which one is my favorite, but I can say that Core is my least favorite. I like their Led Zepplin side more than their grungy side.

Re: STP albums

Granted I love Filter and I love STP, but I'm not impressed with Army of Anyone that much.

I voted Tiny Music because it's the one I have I like Lady Picture Show and Tripping. We used to cover tripping back in the day...

Re: STP albums

I voted for Tiny Music but the poll really made me think. I never saw STP as a Pearl Jam ripoff although there's no denying their sharing of the same early 90's "zeitgeist," and the first two albums, while good, just feel dated like PJ's early stuff.
I like Tiny Music the best because unlike their peers and other bands at the time, who were getting darker and more full of themselves, here was STP with a weird, vintage and kind of fruity-sounding album that kind of stood out. It was well-written, well-performed, and was almost made one forget that Scott Weilland's drug problem was probably getting worse and worse.

Re: STP albums

Actually No. 4 is a great album as well, maybe my second favorite.
