It might be a bit cliche, but the first riff I learned was the intro to One by Metallica. Think I learned smoke on the water shortly after.

Followed by "Smoke"...
I was never interested in playing "Stairway". After 18 years I still haven't worked on it.

After learning bits and pieces of things (as you do). The first song I learnt all the way though was The Clansman by Iron Maiden. I was just noodling around one way and worked out most of the tune, then learnt the rest!
