You missed the 4l3rt (AlErt).

It's just the language evolving. Do you think the languages we have today sound good to people a few centuries ago?

The **** make it difficult to understand some posts, as you don't know if it's a website, foul word or owned...

Re: The term "*****"

Ahhhh, the olden days of Jemsite. Kevan G would have run (pwned) everyone (n00bz) out of town for their poor grammar, poor spelling and over-usage of slang. It was such a scholarly place to visit.

It does make thingz more better 2 reed and understand when u yews good writing skillz.

w00t!

It takes a bit of intelligence to play guitar, and not much less to write and spell in a manner which is understood by the majority of people.

I wouldn't call dumbing things down "evolving." Good point, I call it laziness.

If you're looking for someone to be the Jemsite spellchecker, I volunteer myself... maybe it's an obsessive compulsion, but I HATE bad spelling and grammar. Grrr!

Re: The term "*****"

I have no idea dude! I lke using it. Maybe I should grow up, but "pwning n00bz" is a good feeling. Some people take it too seriously. It's just fun.

BTW, do a Google image search for "pwned". That'll explain exactly what the term means.

Re: The term "*****"

You don't, my point exactly. I am all for LOL, LMAO, etc etc. I actually enjoy figuring out what they mean. And I have no problem with slang, or Bro, or even "owned". But with the p you just look like a complete idiot. (IMHO haha)

With all due respect. Every new word gets tested, if enough people use them, they will gradually become a part of the language. Didn't you say cool stuff when you where younger? Do you say the same today? If no, why not?

When they started to use tractors to plow the fields, was that laziness or evolution?

I always thought "p wned" meant pawned, as in "I own you so much I pawned you". Made sense to me.

Re: The term "*****"

Euphor, hysterical, that is EXACTLY what I thought it meant. I owned you for so long that I took you down to Fast Eddie's and pawned you. I actually googled it when I finally realized that noone was putting the a in there. And yeah, when I was younger I used a lot of words that made older people have a reaction very similar to mine. To be honest, what it is that really gets me is it just is so horribly grammatically incorrect. I am really anal about stupid little things like that. I actually started this thread to make people laugh, no idea it would turn into an anthropological discussion on the evolution of language.
