Re: trem or bridge studs material
I call BS. At around 90 pounds of force on the average guitar bridge, those knife edges will cut through any wood posts me thinks?

Re: trem or bridge studs material
If it does turn out to be wood - see if he'll let you give the trem a whirl. I mean anyone could make some wooden posts and show 'em off, but using them might be a different story . . .

duuuude i never said it was true, i posted this poll to see what others had to say
personaly i like the sound fo ss....not a floyd fan, but i love steel/steel cam kahler with ss rollers
but this guy has it, and after we wire up the rg350dx, turn it inot a jem evo setup.....were going to play the rg, and play the jem, just for fun
in the conversation the guy told us he has one with wodden studs....crazy maybe, bs on the sound maybe, but ill post pics, its still an interesting issue

Re: trem or bridge studs material
I would think that wood would dampin any sustain. Take a 2x4 of wood and steel, hit them both with a hammer and see which one viberates longer. Put your ear at one end and hit the other and see which one tranferes the sound better across the length of it. Wood for an
acoustic guitar
would vibrate well because of the construction. But a wooden dowel as a trem stud should absorb rather than transfer vibrations.

why is everyone here impossibly retarded
there are differences in jems playablity
but the insults and the insanity based on my enthusiasm is just a joke on your parts
you guys are completely rude and possibly really do think low of yourseves if all you ever do is place attacks here on the forum, seems as though, you cocider yourselves what...moderators, so you moderate, contribute, and and involve yourselves in alienated nazi actions......what ever happened to having a good time
yes i agree wood wouldnt be the best, that is why i started this thread....but its was a a new issue and i will bring more info to the table, early this week after that parts come in, and we have a chance to compare them
the idea was
to take our rg350dx, wich i may add is very similar to a jem, but without the same neck and wood specs
but on the other hand all our attempts are to do is to switch the electronics
i even stated were going to compare it to a real jem loaded with evo full setup
so i didnt say were going to TURN IT INTO A FULL JEM replica...just a jem setup, its already got the edge2 trem and just a regular rg neck with wizzard contour with i think a
basswood body
so yeah you guys gotta kill the whole thing for me dont you..???
and the fact was after converting the rg setup, we were going to compare the two for fun
then the guy told us about the wooden studs
as amazing as it was, im going to check it out
but each's tone is to thier own right, so maybe he loves it
personaly id go with ss
and keep my dad out of this, hes a og with tons of old gear, but doesnt deserve to be included in the convo
