Vote: Fix my Mcintosh receiver or retube my SL-X?
I bought a Mcintosh receiver a while back. Worked beautifully for a while and then it started making loud noises when I turned it on, probably a bad capacitor... but my father managed to find a nice Yamaha at the dump that works perfectly which I have been using but he bought a set of speakers so he wants that now. Maybe I will take his receiver, or make him take his >:-)
I was going to retube, recap and upgrade the transformer (it's not one with a Drake) in my JCM 900 SL-X. Now I have to decide what to do first. I am leaning towards fixing the MAC because I can pay that off in a couple months... hopefully one. But damnit I was going to make do with that Yamaha for a few more months...
Anyone know how much a typical recap of a Mcintosh 1900 may run?
