What do you think about the Guitar Hero game?

When I got a WII from my girlfriend in december, one of the first games I bought was Guitar Hero III. I find this game to be highly addictive and even though the game itself has little to do with real guitarplaying, it has made me aware of new bands and made me appreciate already known music even more. I started playing a lot of songs on real guitar after playing them in the game. I think this may even be a great new way to experience music. So I'm curious what you guys think.

I got it for abit of a laugh.I thinks it's ok and if it inspires kids to pick up a real guitar and listen to guitar music that's brilliant! Ofcourse they'll have abit of a shock when they try playing some of the songs for real

Some of the songs are much harder to play in the game than on a real guitar (if you play them on expert level in the game that is). But it definitely requires different skills than reallife guitar.

200% right! Give us back wooden cubes and regular Teddy bears! At least, those are useful toys that will grow our children clever!

Not a bad game. If you're spending two hours or more playing guitar hero and you haven't played real guitar it's time to pick up a real guitar. Two hours a day of practice on a real guitar will turn you into a good guitar player in a short period (if you stick with it.)

Guitar Hero is great fun, especially in a social setting with a bunch of friends.

I know what it is, but I have no interest in it. However, my two daughters want me to get "Rock Band" for them, so that may happen.

I know what it is, but I will never play that game, ever. I swear not to. It will make me suck even more at guitar.

And more often than not, when you say this is introducing people to more music, it generally mean they know one song by a band and that is as far as they take it. And they will also probably not be inspired to pick up a real guitar. No one I know who plays it has all that much interest in real guitar and playing this game seems to give them deluded ideas about just how easy it must be to play real guitar. But they'll never bother putting that to the test.

Anyway, this topic has surely been done before, many times?

Sorry about the rant, I just can't stand this game or the attitudes of the people I know who play it - probably a little narrow minded of me but I just can't get along with those guys.

I absolutely hate it

To many folks talk about how bad they are at Guitar hero but when you hand them a real guitar they have NO clue

I tried it once for about 2 seconds and realized it was nothing at all like playing a REAL guitar. Then I went downstairs and picked up a REAL guitar and had a blast

I get called all kinds of names (crappy guitarist, p*ssy, scared, etc) because I won't play it

My vote is obvious
