well..., one could argue that Uncle Sam, via Brother Jonathan and Yankee Doodle has Dutch roots too.

Also, having lived close to Julian, California -known for some of the best apples in the country- I can attest that even the most pie worthy apples in the USA are no match for the preferred Dutch variety.

You've said it evil twin. Gotta love dutch apple pies.

I love thai food. Just great with all those spices.

Apple pie is cool but you have to have the right ones. Not the ones with hard pieces in them that hurt your teeth.

I actually had a home made pie the other day. It was delicious. Incomparable with what you buy in the supermarket!

My favourite is Mexican food. I literally just ate a plate of nachos and I'm also having burritos for supper. If its mexican, I probably love it.

Edit: is there any way edit polls? I forgot to put italian food in.
The only problem with your list is that is basically a Fake. None of those foods are ethnic. Mexican food is the crap they sell you here as Mexican. Mix beans with some cheese in it and is Mexican. American Food is much broader than that. Think Thanks Giving for Christ sake. you just have that mentality that everything in the U.S. is bad, that's foolish.
Japanese. Do you really want to eat Fubo. Or is it Whale?
Chinese, Who the F... told you China was on San Francisco.
Italian. That's a hard one to catch. They get for breakfast my entire meal during the day.

So 'mexican' food they serve at 'mexican' restaurants is crap? I wouldn't expect it to be exactly what every mexican eats every day, but the dishes themselves in general come from that general area. Same for basically every food, it comes from a specific area.

Fast food more or less originated in the US. Of course there's more than that, but's it's a generalization. Fast food and pie is what most people, or at least me, think when they hear "American food".

And I'm assuming all those Chinese immigrants would never understand what Chinese food is, especially the ones that open restaurants, would they? Same for every culture, if it isn't directly made in that country, it is fake food. Mkay. Tell that to every chef in the world that cooks food not native to their birth place.

And yeah, I know I could have had a lot more options, especially for 'asian' food, but I could have put on 30 different ones and it probably wouldn't be enough.

Re: What is your favourite 'ethnic' food.

you know...there should really be separate choices for "Asian" food. Indian and Thai food are nothing alike. the same for Vietnamese, Middle Eastern, etc.

As for my favorites: Japanese, Mediterranean (gotta love that hummus and olives), Vietnamese (love the simplicity), and Eastern Thai foods (yes, there's a difference).

I grew up in a predominantly Mexican city, and I've grown so tired of Mexican food, which technically in America is Tex-Mex, not real mexican food :P .

Re: What is your favourite 'ethnic' food.

hi, i suggest to try some Colombian food (i´m obviously biased here), specially:

frijoles (red beans...differente to mexican)
sancocho de gallina (dense soup...plantains, "yuca", ken, and lots of other stuff)
mondongo (like "callos a la madrileņa" but better)
tamales (chicken and meat on a corn "masa", wrapped on plantain leaf...dont eat the leaf!!)
empanadas (like a fried small tamal....not really but i cant explain it differently)

i´ve seen colombian restaurants in ny and miami.....

hope you enjoy it!!

I really like spicy stuff, so I'd say Thai and Indian, but I've actually been getting in to Mexican lately since there are actually some decent restaurants that have opened up here lately.

I've been eating spaghetti bolognaise since I can remember. I get tired of rice and spuds but hardly ever Italian.
