Re: What is your next guitar after your #1 Ibanez
I have 5 #1's. Each fitting a different feel.
JS1000BP - If I had to have a #1 it would be it but doesn't always fit what mood I am in
Strat Ultra w/ Fender Hot noiseless set
JS1600PS - serious sustain
Charvel ProMod w/ custom oiled dinky body
Mex Strat w/Floyd rose and SD JBjr, duckbucker, and Lil'59
Gas is always having me look but I don't really need anymore guitars as they all fit what I need. However, I will always be getting more

You are about to meet Sir Paul McCartney and you have to jump on the crowded tube to get there. If you have been to London you will know what a tight space that can be. You have 5 minutes and you have to grab a guitar...which one?
Joe Satriani was faced with a similar situation with equally famous member of the royalty of British rock and roll.

I don't really like the Beatles so I would not want to play with him.

Wow, could I trade places with you? I'll take the gig
But most of the time I didn't really care too much and like you had a guitar for every purpose where most other guitarists I know had one that dominated their time. In the times that I didn't have a #1 but used a variety of instruments pretty equally I did OK, but when I was like most who gravitate most towards just one, the others got neglected but the music got served just as well and teh #2s and #3s were there just in case I broke a string.
If I had your crew of guitars I would have a hard time choosing between them all but actually each one is amazing yet versatile by itself just enough that I could have any one of those and do anything on them and be happy. A Satch with push-pull is about the best thing I have ever heard clean and distorted. It has a great neck just big enough for comfort in first position chords yet is thin and flat enough for searing leads. The frets are good for chording yet thick enough for smooth bends. Every JS I have played is a class act guitar and the JS 1000s I have tried were all like dream guitars. That being said, the JS 100s were almost as good and certainly better than any other superstrats I came across, Ibanez or otherwise.

Re: What is your next guitar after your #1 Ibanez
I know what you mean dude. For the last 4days my Charvel (only one with maple board) has been my goto. Before that was the Ultra (ebony board) for a week. The JS1000 is the one with the 'most' time spent with it.
The only true #1 I have in my life is my wife. She doesn't allow me to play with others

Well I have 17 guitars and 5 are Ibanez.
I guess it would be my EVH bumblebee replica I built.

Guitars, right? That's what we are talking about. But come to think about it guitars are girls to some of us boys!
Anyway I used to have a perfect three guitar attack (back in the metal days) and it was Charvel Model Two for shredder stuff and dive bombing, but for regular stuff it was single coil ('68 Telecaster with Bigsby) and humbucker (Gibson Sonex 180 Custom). Our music set consisted of classic rock and harder/more modern stuff and if worst came to worst I would use the Telecaster for everything and not dive bomb.
I found when I went back to a one guitar rotation instead of a three guitar rotation I didn't have to constantly adjust from neck to neck every single day, even though the adjustments were subtle like 25.5" inch scale or 24/75" inch scale or flat 12" inch radius on Chavel versus 7.25" inch rounder radius on Fender.. I looked a lot less at the neck, but after 20 something years, when I thought I settled down into a style, I got quite a bit better and I understood all those who were strictly one guitar junkies and all either professional or professional level musicians. Ironically, my friend who had a lot of guitars played the JS100 about 90% percent of the time but when he picked up one of his other guitars, it almost sounded like a different, less experienced player. Whether it's Horowitz on piano who can detect tolerances nobody can hear or feel, or Willie Nelson who needs his one special acoustic, there's a lot to be said of bonding with one instrument and making it a part of yourself. I truly understood what those guys meant when, by circumstance and many other factors, I found myself playing primarily one guitar in a ten year period. Being a GASSER for so many years, I would have not chosen to stick with one guitar but I am glad I did. Stuff I wrote off as music I would never be able to play suddenly became possible when I became a one axe player.
I don't know exactly what it is about the JS series but it's such a good guitar for everything I can think of, even jazz. Neck pickup with tone rolled back sounds pretty sharp and not overly muddy like all Gibsons I have owned. I don't know if DiMarzio came up with the JS pickups and combination or if Joe himself had some input. Basically with any amp, tube screamer, and maybe a heavy distortion pedal, you can cover just about all bases on music I have played.
If there was ever a guitar for a lady to get jealous of, it's the Ibanez JS.

Re: What is your next guitar after your #1 Ibanez
I'm gonna buy me another BRMR and have the disappearing pyramid in silver/gold/redgold laid in so I have a twin to my BRMR with chrome vine...
After that, I will pursue an ESP Kamikaze
regards,
JP

I played the night crow version of this at the local Sam Ash. They have it on clearance for $600. Sooooo much ownage!
Yet, alas, I do not have $600 to spare. Hopefully I can find a similar deal when I'm ready to buy.
