What leg do you use?

I'm curious about something. I am self taught at guitar so yeah I suck at it and all and my form is probably horrendous, but one thing I notice when I see people sitting down playing guitar, they always rest the curve of the guitar on their right knee. For me I always rest it on my left because it's more comfortable to me.

Am I just a psycho nut job? Ummm okay nevermind don't answer that one.

So yeah, what I want to know is do other people play the guitar on their left leg besides me or is it just yet another example of me doing everything the wrong way?

I sit it on my knee and play it. Easy. When I put it on my right knee it feels ackward to me. But I also use a knife with the wrong hand too so go figure!

Left leg for me. I voted "other" though, just because I could.

Re: What leg do you use?

Most people seem to start on the right leg as it seems to be the norm. But i heard somewhere a long while ago that some-one actually said that the left leg postion is closer to how you hold the guitar when standing so easier to adjust. I started as a "righty" but these days i'm mostly a "lefty"

Re: What leg do you use?

I think left leg (for a right-handed player) is more like the classical way of playing. It's much more comfortable for me and I can get higher up the neck comfortably.

Left, took classical guitar lessons for three years while learning electric (my true love). This is kinda embarrassing because I'm actually a very proficient classical player (At least I think, I'm not gonna lie) and I don't even own a classical acoustic!

What could possibly be embarrassing about being a good classical player? Are you nuts?

Re: What leg do you use?

Wow! I'm so happy! I'm not a retard afterall! YAY!! That's funny because I am not trained in guitar at all and yet I am spanish so I guess it's in the genes. Cool! BTW quicksilver, no shame in playing classical guitar. It's beautiful and it's where it all started so no worries. Anybody who ever heard Manuel Barrueco or Andres Segovia play would never think that classical guitar is for sissies.

Besides, didn't even Kirk Hammett play a classical guitar at the intro to Battery? Oh wait, Metallica are a band of sissies, nevermind bad example.
