What should I do with my RG 20th

Ok heres the deal. I have an RG 20th that i bought last summer. My original intent for buying it was to sell it in a few years to hopefully make money off of it. I want to keep it in tip top condition so I dont play it much but when I do I start to get the feeling I dont want to sell it and instead I should just put some new pickups and other stuff in to customize it to loke sorta like a Jem and use it as one of my main guitars. What should I do?. My current main guitars are a BC Rich Bich Bich with Floyd Rose speedloader tremelo and a fender highway one telecaster if it makes any difference to you.

Re: What should I do with my RG 20th

Don't sell it. Guitars are too often treated like heireses. Kept in a room all prettied up just so that you can send her away. What a shame that an amazing guitar like that never gets to see the light of day and feel the touch of a person and experience being useful.

You wouldn't do that to a child, why would you do it to a guitar? Play what you buy, collecting is for people who buy action figures when they are 30.

I love guitars but they aren't works of art to me, they are tools for art. Beautiful tools to help me achieve tone.

If your intention was to make money there are much better things to invest in than reissue guitars.

Re: What should I do with my RG 20th

I originally bought 2 sets of these thinking I would keep one set mint for resale. After playing one set at gigs for the last 10 months,I decided to sell a set to a friend who gigs all the time. These guitars belong on stage. They are easy to play, stay in tune, sound good and look cool.I have a rare prs tucked away for resale. The only guitar I bought with no intention of gigging with. And there are much better things to invest in.

I'm not sure that the 20th are going to increase in value. Particularly if you paid for one over here in the UK as if I remember right they were selling for around £850. I've just picked one up in mint condition with the case and candy for nowhere near that price I'm going to be playing mine As always I'll look after it but if it gets a couple of dings or even customised, I won't be too upset.

Don't hide it away until you sell it, keep that baby and play it to bits.

Guitars are meant to be played and enjoyed, not put on a pedestal to look at and wonder about.

Just my 2 cents.

Rock on!

Re: What should I do with my RG 20th

I'm another one who doesn't think that these guitars are what would be described as "investment" material. I think you should sell it now as it is to someone who wants it for what it is, and find yourself a nice second hand JEM that already looks "sorta like a JEM" and play the hell out of that.

If you actually like the guitar for what it is, start gigging with it and make any necessary changes as and when apropriate as you get to know the guitar better.

Nah.....it's far too good for that

I guess if it's going to be worth upwards of 30 or 40 grand it might be worth keeping for the investment

Dude, being as I am such a nice fellow and really care about my fellow Jemsiter I will do something for you I have not offered anyone else. Send it to me for safe keeping and I will play it for you. That way it is being used for what it was made for and you have not a tinge of guilt in playin it.

Dude, no need to thank me it is my pleasure.

Re: What should I do with my RG 20th

No offense but, an RG20th isn't what I would really call a "sought after" guitar from a collectible perspective. If you had a Jem 20th, that would be a different thing but, considering you can still buy original RG's, you're going to have to wait for many decades if you really want to make some money off that guitar.
