What would Hendrix...

I got the inspiration to do this thread from reading a magazine with this question in it. Also, i'm seing a Hendrix tribute band tonight

The question is:
What guitar would Jimi Hendrix use now, if he were still alive?


I'm almost 200% sure that he would be using a double-locking trem () but what brand/build would he be using?

Jimi died of suffucation during his sleep due to a mixture of too many sleeping tablets and alcohol in his body. Not a drug overdose. But he'd still be using strats like Beck and Clapton.

I think he'd still be using Strats, but with some of the modern features (modern bridge, electronics, etc.).

While I feel this is kind of a goofy question, I still feel compelled to answer.

Since he seemed to have a flair for expermenting with the latest gadgets of his day, I'm guessing he would be playing a strat with modern features (i.e. Floyd Rose, Sustainer pickup, etc.)

Wouldn't too many pills mixed with alcohol be a drug overdose?

Nope. Just caused a stomach upset and he was too drunk to wake up. No lethal dosage whatsoever.

Wouldn't that mean he took more pills than his stomach could take? Wouldn't that be an overdose? Even if he didn't die of the overdose, he wouldn't have died had he not taken them. At least not the way he did.

I'm just being difficult with you, so you don't need to use time on an explanation. I'd still say it was an overdose.

I think that Hendrix would definetely be using stratocasters. Fender would have a contract on him so tight that if he even looked at another guitar he would get sued.
