Yeah there's no way I could play with it that low. But it looks wicked with a guitar like an explorer.

Re: Where is your guitar slung?

I've got mine pretty high up. The bottom of the guitar is just above my bellybutton.

Re: Where is your guitar slung?

Somewhere between my mid-section and my armpits. I used to wear it a little lower, but once again, technique suffers, especially when using the pinky for legato, etc. All the better players wear it high or quite high. Holdsworth, Shawn Lane, Francis Dunnery... etc. "Average" rock players like Slash wear it low because it's supposed to be cool and their technique is secondary to their image.

Midsection, maybe a little higher, as with Dee.

Technique trumps image from my standpoint.

Re: Where is your guitar slung?

I wear mine around my ribs/ midsection, so that the body contours are comfortable with my ribs and my arms. if i play too low, the guitar swings around too much and i have to really reach my arms down, and to be perfectly honest if yougo too low it just looks ridiculous

Hey do you guys remember Green Day - I mean old school Green Day - around the time of "Dookie". I remember everyone wanted to have their guitar right down to the floor after that album. Those were the cool kids I guess . . .

And why is that picture so damn huge - ah well. Just sit a bit farther back from the screen to look at it.

This is about the hight I have it. Maybe a little lower.

I agree. I used to have it lower and it was just a pain to play accurately. I have it about the same height as Joe but I might bring it up a bit higher. Interesting you guys agree that the technique suffers considerably when the guitar is too low. I've also noticed that if I'm sitting down, I tend to play faster and better, weird eh? Could it be that since the weight of the guitar is not resting on my shoulders but rather on my leg, my arm has less strain?

Comments?

I think it's also a matter of where your arms are. My hands and arms at completely different angles and positions when I'm sitting as opposed to standing.
