Re: Where is your guitar slung?

yeah midsection, but sometimes i have to pull a vai and wedge the body on my legs and kinda stick it upward and a little outward i guess so my technique wont suffer on some things
I guess it is a form of vertical

Re: Where is your guitar slung?

I wear it a bit above my midsection. A little lower than Petrucci. I remember when I first said "Eff it I'm tired of playing sloppy," and my badmates all had a go at me. Saying things like "Are you in a country band?" or "what is this? Jazz?" and a bunch of other things. But they all switched too after they saw how it sounded better and how I could play much longer sets.

For the other question going around. I often play sitting down with the guitar on my right leg (I'm a righty) but recently for the same reasons above I started moving it to my left leg. I think it helps a lot for practicing.

Re: Where is your guitar slung?

On my King V, I use a DiMarzio clip strap and for me it hangs way too low around my midsection. I can't really move to quickly around the neck and my wrist gets sore from playing on the E string.

On my RR3 and Kramer however, the sit right where Petrucci would normally have it due to a somewhat small strap but I really like it. Good access to the entire neck and I don't hurt my wrist trying to play.

If I sit down, I always keep it on the right. It seems to put it in the perfect position where my left hand is around the end of the neck and my right hand is able to pick perfectly. Plus it's comfortable.

Re: Where is your guitar slung?

The midsection allows the relaxation of it being low and the accuracy of it being high. It's my choice.

Mid, too low or high is a strain.

Re: Where is your guitar slung?

It depends on what I'm playing. I started out wanting to be Paul Stanley so I used to sling it real low, then as I got better I brought it up to just below my midsection. When I sit it's almost always on my left knee or slung real high on a strap. I can sling it lower if I'm not playing anything requiring too much skill...

Re: Where is your guitar slung?

It really depends on which guitar I'm playing. LP at waist or lower, Strat at midsection. Acoustic 12 string a little higher. But again these are all subject to change on to what's comfy at the time and what song I'm playing.
