Which band should hang up the towel?

Rolling Stones/Paul McCantsing/Elton John/Cliff Richard. Those not from the UK would have missed the disgraceful performances by these veterans (the Stones didn't perform) during Her Majesty the Queen's Golden Jubilee celebrations. I caused a bit of a brouhaha here and made a lot of people sit up and say "enough's enough guys"

Metallica. Hated every song they've ever made. And I'm not saying that like I'm some 60 year old blues player who hates any distortion. I fu*king LOVE metal. But Metallica isn't real metal to me. Generic hard rock at best.

Still better than Nickleback or Creed.

You're probably too young to really appreciate Metallica, especially if you're a big fan of new metal where everyone is trying to outdo each other to be the most hard core. If you look at what else was going on in the mid 80's and compare Metallica to that, it seems a lot more intense.

I can't say I fully agree with that statement. My only argument being that I can appreciate Vai, Satch, Gilbert, Malmsteen, Slayer, Pantera and other bands and musicians that peaked in the 80's and 90's of many different sounds and genres with little effort. I just enjoy what I hear and appreciate what it took to make those sounds.

And I just plainly hate Metallica.

I wouldn't be on Jemsite if the only music I appreciated was modern metal

What do ages have to do with personal tastes?
I hate Metallica too and I'm not too young.
For everything in life, there'll be people who loves it, hates it and don't care about it NO MATTER their ages.
People who care about hairs and clothes are just following the flow.
I had dozens of friends who used to like Metallica and kept trying to make me like too.
Then Metallica started playing crap pop rock songs and all of them started hating Metallica too.
I just laughed.
I don't care what Metallica did or how many times they changed their music to make more money or their hairs and clothes, I simply never liked their music and my age has nothing to do with that.

I really thought the who hade retired long ago. Anthrax,Slayer to. And i thought at least 2 of the members in Alice in chains was angels in heaven, but apperently they all are still around,i suppose according to the poll. Don't know who should...not sure anybody should. If they like to play,why not play untill you drop. If it makes you happy then go for it.

This^^ I had a high school friend tell me about some cookie monster band that he was listening to and say to me "I cant believe we thought that was metal" Well, it was metal, it was melodic, actually had singers and you could understand the lyrics. The songs had riffs, wild *ss solos and was incredibly cool when compared to the Tiffany, Debbie Gibson and New Kids crap that was 80's, 90's pop.

If I could have just one metal album it would be Metallica's Master of Puppets.

Music is about sound and not about lookings.
Taylor music is beyound crap and, even though I'm not from USA, I can't understand why somebody could say she sings country music, all country music I heard since I was a kid had/have nothing to do with what she sings.Please no more crap music about celebrities, lookings,dresses, etc etc, so many awesome artists can't even pay their bills while so many crap artists making millions with disgusting music, I can compose 20 Swift songs per day.
And please somebody feed her, she looks like a cadaver, her legs and arms have the same thickness.

If you want to know who should hang up the towel, I would first take a look into consideration who is still making money at it and who still has a large following. I have spent a lot of money over the years on gear and guitars and nobody knows who I am or for the most part or what band Im currently in, or could give a sh#t less. So my answer is me, you and everybody else who's on here.
