Re: Which Tab reader program do you use

I think powertab is better for learning songs but you can of course do more in GP, I tried GP 5 a while ago but haven't got it on right now, I remember the features were really cool and the layout was way better than 4.

Powertab because it was free. There is a huge database of songs you can download for guitar pro all at once, I haven't found that for power tab.

The question should be is Guitar Pro worth paying for over Power Tabs.. and for Free I would think more poeple would of tried Power Tab or at least had it first.

I've only used Guitar Pro but it's excellent. The interface is pretty plain but it works as it should and there are some nice features. Then again I didn't pay for it so it was definetely worth it

Wow, I'm surprised that Guitar Pro is in the lead considering you actually have to pay for it.

I've tried them both and Guitar Pro is better for me because it's more full featured and it's up-to-date. I like being able to import tab in ASCII, MIDI and Power Tab formats. It's rare I can't find a tune in one of those formats.

I have both, but use GP more. Is there a good tutorial anywhere for GP, so I can actually use more of it?

Re: Which Tab reader program do you use

Guitar Pro also has a cool Speed Trainer. You can set up a tune to loop and increase the tempo every X number of bars from a minimum tempo (e.g. 75% of the tune's base tempo) to a maximum tempo (e.g. 120% of the tune's base tempo). Bear in mind it's meant to be used with exercises.

I also like the Browser. You can go through a directory of tab files and essentially preview them. Very cool stuff.

To be blunt, I used GP more as a training tool than a tune learning tool.
