Re: Will you smash your guitar?

Well I voted maybe, because although I can understand why people would be upset over the act.

My only reasoning to doing it, would be after playing a crazy set, smashing the guitar would be an amazing release of energy......

No
Smashing your guitar is played out. Townsend and Hendrix made it big almost 50 years ago.

Such a final word? It's a poll about smashing a guitar, not giving a kidney to a dying child.

I never saw the attraction to smashing gear, especially when guys do it every night as part of their set.

Yeah it is a final word, you said no you would never smash a guitar, that kinda finalises your life, in terms of smashing guitars. Who knows maybe one day you will change your mind, and want to smash a guitar, but then you realised that you selected no......

kidneys to children or being able to smash a guitar in the future, both options I would like to have in my future, so I will stick with maybe...

I guess I'll just have to live with knowing I foolishly made such an important decision. 14 year old kids will never talk about how cool I was for smashing a guitar

Or he could just do it anyways? Changing your mind means just that...you changed your mind. Just because somebody said no (or yes) to something 20 years ago (or 2 weeks ago) doesn't mean they can't still do it.

Re: Will you smash your guitar?

A buddy of mine bought an 80 dollar Strat copy to smash at a relatively big show. That's one thing. But I would never smash my guitars, simply because theyre all custom made and it would take many Benjamins and a lota time to get something similar built again, and even then it won't be the same. Similarly considering this is JEMsite I assume many people will continue answering no, seeing as how a lota people here own Jems that also cost in the 2000-ish range and none of us are in the Who or make that kinda money per show

Re: Will you smash your guitar?

I'm just not into the smashing, even considering the endorsements. If I have to get rid of things that bad then I'll just give them to people who need a guitar.

Hells no!

If I won the lottery I wouldn't start wiping my arse with $50's either.

Rock on!

Re: Will you smash your guitar?

I once grabbed a junker in the garbage that had a busted neck (it was a set neck guitar) and some friends of mine decided to do the Jimi and flame it up. Even doing that to a busted unusable junker that someone else threw out was hard. I'd never do it to one of my own.

Next time you feel like smashing your guitar on stage grab the back of your head and smash it against the stage . At this point it would be more interesting, not so played out.
