Re: Would you but an RG8?

Nooooooo and I wouldn´t by a 7-string either

Just give me the chance to get a great 6-string with offset dots and a beautiful flame and I would be happy

Re: Would you but an RG8?

I voted yes for an 8 because im tired of everyone sounding the same.thats why i got a 7 a while back a wanted to be more aggresive and heavy as all hell and because i love meshuggah and Korn(limp bizkit sux)Please no bashing.

Re: Would you but an RG8?

I voted no.

Purely for the fact that its overkill for me.
I haven't even ventured into 7 string territory yet, and Im certainly not going anywhere near an 8 string. They are a nice idea, just overkill, imo.

And not only that, but this is Ibanez remember. They will probably charge an absolute fortune for one of these babies. I cant see them being "reasonably" priced.

I'm not going to buy one either. I have no use for it. Cool idea, though. And Steve Vai and others will probably do some amazing things with it.

Re: Would you but an RG8?

the 8 string is going to be sweet , i may get one depending on price .

again it goes back to the sort of penis envy "my guitar has two more strings then yours does "

seriously , i think it may be a little difficult to play and utilize fully but damn 8 strings would sound brutal , low g low b , or b and a high a .

which raises a question, i thought i saw that the 8 string would have a 30 inch scale , could you even tune to the high A ? i guess you could with like an 8 or 9, but it would still be tight .

Nope. 6 strings are enough for me.

Re: Would you but an RG8?

I plan on getting one, and spending most of my time on it between the 7th and 20th frets or so. I've no use for the ultra low notes, but the number of notes available just going across the neck would be outstanding. I'll add that I have 4 different 7 strings now, and almost all my solidbody guitar playing is done on 7's.

Re: Would you but an RG8?

Yes, yes, yes and did I say ...yes ????

I see 8 string guitars mostly directed to Metal or Jazz fans, mostly metal because a RG shape does not appeal to people who like jazz boxes. So I think the guitar should be as simple as it can be, maybe something like:

1) 2 humbuckers, off set dots, white binding (deep black & natural finishes), lo pro edge trem;
2) 1 humbucker, off set dots, no binding, fixed bridge and plain colors;

That would be lethal weapons

I would buy two from the 1st option :-D

Re: Would you but an RG8?

I wouldn't buy an 8 string, I think it's quite stupid.

7 string = great. I still don't own one but I'd love to be able to afford one.

So what's next, a 9-string?

Re: Would you but an RG8?

No, cos i've seen it & yet again Ibanez use crappy rosewood for the fretboard.

If it had an ebony or maple board then possibly.

Ibanez are quickly becoming a joke with their extended string guitars.

Dean Rusty Cooley signature & Schecter Jeff Loomis signature are a billion times better than anything Ibanez will bring out.
