Re: Your #1 DT album

He only has one solo album - Suspended Animation - which can only be bought from his site. There is also 'An Evening with John Petrucci and Jordan Rudess' or something to that effect which is just those 2 dueting. You can get that from places like Amazon.

Re: Your #1 DT album

IMO, Awake is the most complete album- there's something powerful, dynamic, and sometimes even moving, in every track. I&W almost equals it, but even though "Learning to Live" is a good closer, the power of the album tapers off in some way- I can't put my finger on it.

I have to give Octavarium a few more spins, though. Despite all the slagging it's gotten, it's growing on me. May not match their 1st few, but it's good stuff.

I pretty much agree.

Awake is personally the most influencial album in my collection. The music, the playing, the lyrics, the mood...everything is perfect on that album, especially the last half of the disc with songs like Lifting Shadows, SDV, and my personal favorite DT song, Scarred.

Plus, "Lie" and "The Mirror" got me into 7-string guitar, so I gotta throw mad props around for that one

I'm really suprised more people aren't into FII. I loved that disc. The songwriting on that one tops every other disc of theirs. Songs like "Hollow Years", "Anna Lee", "Trial of Tears", "Lines in the Sand"... those are incredible songs, all of them.

Re: Your #1 DT album

Images & Words. No competition.

SFAM was good, but I thought at that point Petrucci's soloing and tone wasn't what it used to be. Fix that and there was some competition again.
