I would go for the good deal on the 7VWH. That's a great price for one.

if you are planning on putting evos in the RG anyways you will end up with the same price as the 7wvh for a guitar which is by far not as good. Besides the 20th has a completely different neck than the Jem. Its way thinnner.

It wasn't for sure - I just meant that if eventually I got sick of the sound in the RFR, which would take a while, since I really like it's sound, maybe I would go for evos, since I like their sound a lot too. That's what I meant anyway.
I don't remember the differences in their necks...I played them months apart. What are the differences?

regarding the neck, there are a few differences... the
jem neck
is slighty thicker (not much, 2mm i think). The radius of both the necks are the same.. another thing worth mentioning is that the jem has the AANJ and the 20th has the older style joint.

Well you should get a 2007 7VWH AND the RG20th. Then get a new Universe too.
Cos that's what I did this year.
Hehehe.

Re: 2001 7VWH or RG20th in RFR?
Have you actually seen the VWH to confirm that it is indeed MINT, as too often we hear stories about guitars being not as described!!
Plus the RG won't have a superior trem as the VWH will have a lo-pro.
Plus, finding a lo-pro/ebony spec JEM in MINT condition might get harder in the future but something tells me a few of these RG's are going to be kept mint to sell at a profit
It is unfortunate you can't afford both
Thats a TOUGH decision!!!!

RG = 17mm at the 1st fret, and 20mm at the 12th fret. Width: 43mm / 56mm
JEM = 19mm at the 1st fret, and 21mm at the 12th fret. Width: 43mm / 57mm
Might not sound much, but there's a huge difference in feel between the two.

I reckon it all depends on if you really want a Jem,if you do you could get the Rg and still not be happy coz its not a Jem

The Jem is cheap at 1250, basically, and the RGs won't stay at 900 forever. They'll eventually drop, probably to about 600-750. Something to think about.
I would personally go for the VWH, as the neck is simply superb. This one is a no brainer for me.

one thing to consider: if you get on stage, and whip out a Jem, then you better be able to rip. If you hit a bad note, or are sloppy, your toast.
On the other hand, if you play an RG then folks will think you are just another kid on the band wagon, until you play brilliantly.

99% of the people in the crowd have not a clue who
Steve Vai
is. Don't worry about that.

AHHH, I don't know, guys! I keep going back and forth for different reasons. Maybe I'll win the lottery and then I can get both...

Have you ever tried Evo's??....
IMO That's THE point! (AANJ's doesn't looks a problem to fit your style??)
Having played both I would say go for the VHW but, as Chimp said, both are cool axes so it really depends on your feelings.. and budget
