Nothing, and I kinda doubt it will be at Winter NAMM.

but most importantly, where will the possible fixed bridge JEM be made.
two new models at wNAMM imho would be smarter than doing a fixed bridge at sNAMM imho, even if one of them doesn't ship until summer.... they get alot more mileage out of winter NAMM.
either way ibanez needs alot of good press for their signature models at wNAMM to offset other bad news & problems... glen
ps - Alex great suggestion to the Product Planning Dept but you are thinking outside the box and with intelligence... something ibanez seems very reluctant to do.

It's funny to read all this speculation and "advisory".
While I agree that the people at Ibanez may not be producing exactly what the Jemsite crowd would want (a very, VERY small fraction of its market btw), they are smart businesspeople who know exactly what sells and what doesn't.
Let's put our cool guitar ideas in the "dream axes" threads, and let the "commercial advisory" to them. I'm sure they know better than all of us.

you're probably right... ibanez is perfect when you analyze things.

Active members out of those 7500?
People who can afford Jems (or high end gear in general) out of those active members?

people who had the means of PC access, internet AND then took time to find the site AND also bother to register for the forum.
don't pull the "ibanez is perfect - we're not normal customers" line with me please cause we are (or were at one point) ibanez BEST CUSTOMERS.
not a power trip, just the facts... glen

Depends of your definition of "Best". Yes, we're by far the most loyal customers, we know everything about the brand, and we love the guitars. But, this is business: the best customer is the one who purchases the most, and that's not us, but the stores who buy hundreds of Gio's at once. They couldn't care less if a Jem doesn't have a sustainer even if Vai uses one, or if the
locking studs
are gone.
Don't get me wrong, I want all of those things, I just feel we're nobody to give them business advice!

Yes we are; we are (potential) customers, and a broad sweep of the guitar buying market.
If you ignore the customer, he goes somewhere else.

I, for one, dont pretend to tell Ibanez if they should or should not make 200 dollars guitars. If that sells, then good for them. But as long as they intend to make high end guitars, and sell them, I think the people who take part in this forum are the target for them.
There are 7500 people in the forum. May be not all of them have jems, but there are others who own several.
They should really be listening to some of the points that are brought to attention in this site.

well, as far as business goes, Ibanez sure knows how to save a penny, take the
locking stud
thing for example. Now of course, that diminishes the quality, but nobody would notice this besides a select few (like Rich). Fortunately, Rich then proceeded to warn everyone about it and now we all know. But yes, we are a big part of the JEM market, I mean...come on...it's freaking JEMSITE. A fansite of the Jem line, and I think they should listen to us more. Especially people that have almost every Jem made, or people that have bought a DNA. Those are the people who they should try to impress. It's not like they'd be losing money. I know what I first though about the JEM when I first saw it years ago, I thought it was beautiful (this was a JEM7VWH) but I thought the handle was sort of tacky. It's grown on me since then, but for that very reason, the people who love the guitars should be the ones they're trying to impress.

I'll get you started: how about a natural oil finish, an ash body, a neck-thru and, ummm, let's see, a bright red Jem with a maple
finger board
... make them interesting and different, but nothing that couldn't easily go into production.
Rich, Glen, get Andy and Mikey to take notice of this BRILIANT idea and to see if they can mention it to Ibanez/Steve.
Also Caprile - not all of the 7500 members here might be active but most of us who are own more than one Jem.
I personaly have 2 (had 3 briefly) and will not hesitate to purchase another one if Ibanez/Vai mature the jem line a bit or give me more choice.
For $2500 (£1999) list guitar made in Japan I want a lot more options and choicier woods.
Someone like Jackson or Tom Anderson will make you a VERY sweet guitar for this much coin..............hell, even a complete custom from Eddie/Jeremy will cost you less and you can get any wood/colour/inlay you wish.

Well, remember that some of the dough goes into Vai's pocket.
