Well, I'll start.
If it is in fact 77 - backrouted for sure.

Black Reflective Chrome ???

ilia

p.s. I know it's not even close to chrome but so many people called it that in the original thread where Steve talked about it that he might have picked the name up from us.

I'm thinking black reverse chrome or something, and dex, I'd also assumed it'd be a rear rout/clear guard from the 77 designation !!!

Well. the 77 is grat news. Finally another backrouted jem. Its been a while since the deliver a backrouted jem. As is posted before, this was the way to go with this kind of finish.

Too bad the name doesnt gives a hint about the inlays.

This guitar with chromed controls and pups will be a must have! The knobs are easy to get, but where can you buy chromed pups (jem10 style?)

I, for one, am not going to count this black-wth-chrome-topped chicken before it hatches in January. And, believe me, as I'm the dude who started this thread, I'll be more relieved than anything if axe-potentially-known-as-Bad-Horsie and the illusive fixed-bridge Jem (please, please, please, please...) appears in wood, metal and plastic.

Nothing's for certain yet. At best, it's nice to anticipate a potential Jem model(s) release and have that buzz of anticipation. I'm prepared for disappointment...

If I was an Ibanez product planner, the hard-core enthusiast websites (no, not that kind of 'hard-core'...) such as Jemsite would definitely be part of my target market focus group process.
Who's going to buy a top-price Jem? Jemsiters are. WE should have the say as to what WE want in a Jem.

I work in magazine publishing, where $$$ are spend trying to figure out exactly what readers want. What the readers want, they get - that's how the industry makes money. I also primarily work in motoring editorial, and know how car companies develop product for their market. The Dodge Viper is perfect example of consumer power: it was unveiled as concept car only, the manufacturer gauged public response, the public loved it, potential buyers tried placed orders, buyer pressure turns Viper into production vehicle.

I wonder if this is how guitar companies work? I seems from the outside that they create a production model they THINK we might like (and fail miserably, commercially, much of the time) without consulting those who potential customers who would actually buy one and do care about the finest specifications (in the Jem model's case, us Jemsiters).

So, to Ibanez Product Planning Dept, I have a suggestion. Bring out whatever you think at January NAMM. But, as an aside, create four one-off Jem prototypes in a variety of finishes, woods, specs, inlay types and hardware. I'll get you started: how about a natural oil finish, an ash body, a neck-thru and, ummm, let's see, a bright red Jem with a maple finger board... make them interesting and different, but nothing that couldn't easily go into production.

Then, and here's the easy part, ASK US - THE BUYERS/FANATICS which model, or features, or specs, WE want to go into production. Start a Jemsite thread - I'm sure you'll get tons of feedback. The most popular model of the four should then be made to go into production.

If you listen to what we want, and put what we want into production, you'll have my hard earned cash. Too easy.

That's the [unconfirmed] model designation I was given. It's not like this is some super secret model that nobody knows about considering it's been anticipated for near 2 years now

ok artificial, the Bad Horsie is the mirror finish guitar that Steve Vai plays, among his others like Evo and Flo. Now Ibanez is putting this guitar into mass production (with a few spec changes of course). It isn't a fixed brige guitar, it's going to have a trem just like the rest of Steve's Jems, but there is also a rumored fixed bridge model that's going to come out, which we know almost nothing about. I think that sums it up.

So JEM77BRCH...hmm...black reverse chrome does make sense, but why reverse? Why isn't it just black chrome or something? A mystery. But I'd agree, if it is a 77, it will probably be back routed like most 77's. And that's good news. Anyone besides me notice that the 77's have the craziest finishes? Really, they have all the swirls and florals, and now probably a mirror. Hey Rich, has Ibanez leaked any names/numbers about the fixed bridge Jem?
