20th Anniversary Jem, Like or Dislike?

Ok, the new Jem has been unveiled. I think it is a cool concept, but I am not really digging this guitar. The multicolor looks like silly string to me. It is just my opinion, but I am not a fan of acrylic either. I think at a $6666.65 list price, they could have dont something alot better than that guitar. I know I will not be saving for one of these, but I want to know if you guys do like the new 20th, or think they could have done something better for $6666.00.
I am very interested to find out what you guys think.

In the poll, more people dislike it than like it. Personally, I don't like it, there are a hundred things I'd prefer to have seen instead of this and, well what can I say, Ibanez making bad moves? What a crazy suggestion! Or not.

Thumbs down from me, I'd rather they had reissued the mighty 777LNG. But as I said, there's already 8 million threads on it.

I agree with your "silly string" comparison. Overall I like it though, it is different and previous special additions have had swirls and florals.

I still the 10th is the best special edition Jem - pure class

my inner collector really dislikes the idea of re-issues. But player instincts call out for them.

Personally I think its fantastic that Ibanez keep sticking their neck out... It may not be your cup of tea... but it seems that every time they do something different it takes about 3-4 years for most people to come round to it.... remember the 7VWH, 7DBK, 90TH, 7VSBL.. even before them... the FP's and MC's were detested when they were first released.... even the DNAs were hated because of the breed pickups and thinner neck and absence of pyramids or vine inlay... all these models are generally regarded as excellent/ highly desireable... the whole jem/universe ethos to me is that its in your face! Its got buckets of style (tacky/elegant/graceful/brutal depending on the model) and they are designed to be played and be seen.

just be thankful its not a strat/les paul/PRS in a new slightly different shade of red.

The new look is really cool and I wouldnt mind hanging one on my wall. Ibanez seems to be taking a sign from the colectors of the JS version BUT IMO for 7K, id rather buy 5 JEM7VWHs from Rich!
