Wow, first post
My name's Kevin, Im a guitarist from around Dallas, TX. I've been eating bologna and drinking water with hopes of putting back enough money to buy a JEM. Along the way I decided to 'upgrade' my 321MH to a JEM copy. I in no way am trying to sell this as a real JEM, of course you'd have to be pretty dumb to belive a real
fixed bridge JEM exists...
Any comments would be appreciated, positve, negative, whatever, just feedback.(pics below, hopefully if I did them right)
I painted on the design I came up with for my 270dx back in high school
I painted the JEM555 inlays down the back
I cut out a damn close to scale monkey grip( the black makes it look bigger)
I hand sanded the back of the monkey grip to give it a machined look
I installed mirror chrome JEM inlays, kinda like decals, and sealed them on the neck
I installed the JEM logo on the headstock
I replaced the Ibanez bridge with an upgraded bridge that cradles the string ends to reduce stress and breakage
I installed a
Dimarzio Steve's special in the bridge and a Air Norton in the neck (petrucci style pups) and then covered them with black pickup covers to protect them from corrosion and give them a more sleek EMG look to go with the times and the paintjob.
I went back and clear coated the body to seal the paint and it brought out a really nice hue to the mahogany.
All of that cost me less than 160$ and just a few hours of work while watchin tv over the bar. I've got Vai's looks with Petrucci's guts.
